"Accommodated by a very friendly, helpful family who uphold the reputation of Indonesian hospitality"

10.0

I visited Indonesia for 2 weeks and would say this was the best accommodation I stayed in. Mr Hilwan is a very friendly and helpful host, he and his family took time to talk with us, advise us on what we can do, organise excursions for us and tell us more about Bandung and Indonesia. I feel as though he has dedicated a lot of time towards preserving the rich and diverse heritage and cultures of Indonesia, his property is built in a traditional style and is filled with items from Sumatra to Papua, the entire length of Indonesia. Staying at Badjoeri Homestay was a completely different experience which you don't get in a hotel. Their restaurant also includes food items that are specialities of South Sumatra, where Mr Hilwan is from, like pempek which was a great way for us to experience the different cuisines of the country. The breakfast is very good too and full of healthy choices. Something that definitely stood out was that during our stay, two members of my party were very ill with food poisoning and Mr Hilwan gave a great deal of help, advising us on what they can eat, drink and offered to get medicine for them too. It was great meeting Mr Hilwan and his family and staying at his property where we were treated very well and I would highly recommend this accommodation to anyone looking to visit Bandung.

"Beautiful oasis in a busy city"

8.0

Beautiful house, an oasis on the edge of the busy city of Bandung. From the images I expected it to be more rural, but it's on a busy road. If you follow the road further out of the city, you'll see nursery after nursery which we thought was pretty awesome. We got moved to a bigger room which was great. The owner helped us with tips for scooter rentals, however, we chose the closest one which had mostly motorbikes and only two scooters which were Vespa's. Vespa's aren't so comfortable for city/busy street driving + they were very expensive to hire (40k). We weren't aware of how expensive this was until we rented another scooter in Jogja for 8k! The owner was generally very helpful and his English good. The breakfast was great, although maybe a bit too much ;)

The little pool you see on the images was empty. Not that important, but it might be nice for some people to chill with their feet in the water - maybe they have it filled sometimes though! Not sure about the photos that were taken of us without our knowledge, even though they were sent through afterwards I find it a bit odd that my photo was taken without consent. Maybe it would be good if they asked if it's okay they take photos during your stay, so at least you know they might do that.

If you are bored staying in hotel rooms, this could be one of your options. Badjoeri Homestay offers a traditional wooden house with a lot of plants and flowers around it. You can see a lot of classic furniture and decorations. The area is very shady and cool, too. The staff are super kind, friendly and respectful. Mang Man is great at helping us with our queries. They always checked on us whenever we went out if we need our breakfast served or if we were going out. Breakfast was simple yet nice. I love their Chicken Porridge and Kerupuk so much. The owner, Pak Hilwan is a friendly man who knows a lot of things. He even candidly took nice photos of us and shared them with us on WhatsApp.
