Noel's beach homestay

If you're looking for a cozy, homely vibe, this place might not be the best fit. Although it's labeled a "homestay," the experience felt more like staying in a hostel — under the watch of a warden. The rooms are clean but basic, amenities are minimal, and the overall atmosphere is quite transactional. We were asked about our next day's plans and bookings as soon as we entered the room around 9:30 PM, tired from a long journey — not exactly the welcome we expected. Although the listing advertised homemade food (paid), we didn’t get any during our two-day stay. The location is also a bit misleading. While it claims to be a beach homestay, it's actually about 200 meters from Mangalam Beach, and not the easiest place to reach — the access road is narrow and there aren't any proper cafés nearby. Thankfully, Swiggy delivery was available. The booking process itself was also a bit unusual. While trying to book through Booking.com, it seemed like the owner may have interfered — we never received a proper confirmation. He then reached out via WhatsApp, insisted we pay an advance to confirm the booking, and assured us that rooms would be available if we came directly. It didn’t feel entirely professional. The owner was polite and helpful but more like a local water sports agent than a homestay host. Most conversations revolved around tourist activities like kayaking and shikara boat rides. Overall, we found the stay to be overpriced and not great value for money.

Noel s family is sweet and warming, their place is the CLEANEST we found in India. Noel is always ready to help for any request, he can fix trip in the backwater for reasonable price. The view from the balcony is simply amazing, breakfast is rich and genuine. Really good choice

Staying at Noel’s Home Stay was such a lovely experience! Noel went above and beyond to make our trip smooth and enjoyable—helping us with transport, recommending great spots, and even arranging a beautiful backwater tour. His whole family was so warm and welcoming, always up for a chat and happy to help with anything we needed. The room was clean, comfortable, and just a short walk from the beach. We felt so at home here and would absolutely stay again. Thanks, Noel, for making our time in Alappuzha so special!
