Akkara Homestay

Très bel endroit au milieu d'une propriété luxuriante bordée par le fleuve. La chambre est spacieuse et confortable. Le petit déjeuner et le diner ont été excellent et copieux. La personne qui nous a reçu est adorable , elle nous a fait visiter le jardin en nous expliquant toute la variété des plantes et des arbres qui s'y trouvent.

Un peu excentré du centre , on est obligé de prendre un tuk tuk à chaque fois ...

Wunderschönes Gelände mit Flair und Stil. Sehr freundliche, hilfsbereite Menschen! Die Räume sind großzügig. Man kann dort auch Wäsche waschen lassen. Das Essen ist sehr lecker.

Es liegt etwas abseits, aber man kann dort eine sehr schöne Zeit verbringen.

Wir hatten eine wunderbare Zeit im Akkara Homestay. Das Essen war vorzüglich und viel lieben Dank für die sehr interessante Führung durch den Garten. 🙏

We like the location of the property by the river and surroundings. Both the property and the gardens are beautifully kept. This house has its own story to tell and both the owner Korean and Ansam took the time to tell us about it. The room was very spacious and comfortable. I loved the stone polish floors everywhere and the style of the property. And of course the big metal bucket with masses of hot water to wash. We had the meals in the dinning room which also added to the atmosphere of being in an old house. We were shown aroung the grounds and told about the plants. We had a short trip in the river in a canoe, the river is very quiet and peaceful. We woke up every morning with the sound of many birds! We were a short tuk tuk trip from Kottayam but felt miles away. Thanks for the book Korean, I am still reading it and enjoying it; all the different names keep me busy. Thanks so much for talking with us on our last meal, made our stay even more special. Thank you Ansam for being such gentle, welcoming host. And thank you to all the rest of the staff, so polite and willing to please. Akkara house will stay in our minds as a happy memory.

Akkara Homestay has been one of the highlights of my trip to Kerala. This family home is over 200 years old and offers a glimpse into the history of Kerala. Situated on a large property on the banks of the river it is peaceful and relaxing, abounding in birdlife. The rooms are spacious and very comfortable. The meals - breakfast and dinner are authentic and tasty. There is also plenty to explore in the neighbourhood - heritage houses, churches, mosques and a very interesting seminary. I had a great Ayurvedic massage as well. The staff go out of their way to be helpful and accommodating in every way. A big thank you to KC - the owner. Ansan, Ajay and Ponnamma. I had a delightful stay and highly recommend Akkara Homestead to anyone travelling to Kottayam.

Beautiful historic building surrounded by lawns and trees right on the river bank with steps down to the water. The staff were really helpful and welcoming arranging taxis, lending us bicycles and paddling us across the river. We swam in the river. Great location to explore the area and have your own piece of the river for a few days.
