Spice Cottage Homestay

The host Mr. Abbas is a very good and polite human. Everything was perfect as per price. Room and toilet were clean and equipped with hot water facilities. Room was spacious and well comfort. I must recommend this homestay if you are a budget traveler and wanting a homely environment.

The best part of this stay was Abhas's hospitality! Even before we got to the property, he contacted me and guided me through the check in and arrival. Although we were traveling by own vehicle, he came to the main road to receive us. He even got us a discount for tickets for the cultural performances. We had planned a one-night stay, but my son and I fell sick and we ended up staying for another night. Abhas treated us more like family than guests and brought us home cooked food and enquired about our health. We stayed in the second-floor bedroom. The room was large and the twin bed was very comfy.

The only challenge we faced was due to the road work going on on his street. We had to park our car by the roadside on the first day. However, the road work made good progress and we were able to park our car inside his gated property for the second night.

The stay was wonderful! Clean room, staff that was adamant in helping us throughout our trip. Very helpful in booking daily activities and brought us food when we were tired, i really recommend the spice cottage for any traveller going through Thekkady!

Excellent host and very helpful to find the right places to visit. The location is so convenient to visit many places and accessible to many places.

Here is my experience - Rooms were so clean and everything was properly maintained, service was good, location was good, the owner was so polite, guided and helped me properly. Also he picked up and dropped me at the places (without any charges). He also helped me to get discounts at almost every place (there was no commission thing) and it almost saved my 500 to 600 Rs in total. He didnt charged me for tea and water bottle, i stayed there 2 nights. We also had good conversations on different topics, he is a retired teacher and takes care of everything without any expectations. If you are going to Thekkady then i would recommend you to stay here and dont doubt him when he will suggest you anything bcoz there is no commission related or any benefit related thing. It was a great experience. Thanks

The host was so welcoming and very helpful with directions, local activities and bus scheduling. The property was in a great location, walking distance from local bus stop. It was super clean, I would highly recommend.

The WiFi works well, the bed is comfortable, and the rooftop patio is a really nice place to relax. The host is very eager to help with any questions or concerns. Dinner is available and tasty, though make sure to give plenty of notice and confirm when you want it.

The hot water was only available in the tap and not in the shower.
