Beautiful place, well kept.

The only thing I would recommend is having some heat on in the Kitchen/ dining area during cooler Fall days

The location is exceptional for exploring Taranaki trails, there are lovely views of the ocean and gardens from the kitchen/shared area, and we appreciated the flexibility about check in and out times.

A few things were unpleasant surprises - some seem to be the typical set up, some may have just been the result of an off week for George. The second bedroom when booking for 3 people is on a separate floor; it is not a suite. The sea view room did not have a sea view, though did have a lovely garden view. None of the doors were locked, and we did not have the ability to lock our rooms. The rooms were dirty, as were some kitchen items. There was mold on the bedroom curtains and in the shower, the couch/sofa bed was covered in (pet?) hair, and the sheets and blankets stained and mildewy. The breakfast was minimalist - cold cereals, instant oatmeal, instant coffee, tea, and toast. On our last morning, there was a random person sleeping on the couch in the shared living room area, which adjoins the kitchen where we were preparing breakfast.

Liked the atmosphere and beauty of the place. Also the space of the room and recreation area. And the view.

Had trouble with paying, but that was because we had to cancel our second night in order to catch the ferry to the South Island.
