DWan Tea Mountain Side

Location is in the quiet, outside of the tourist trap of Jatiluwih. But still close enough to all those must do activities in the village, either by a good walk (downhill) or moped ride. We ended up renting mopeds in the village (family of 4, kids on the back). It gave us the independence we wanted to choose when to head back, where to eat, etc. The location is down and up a few steep roads, which is common for Bali, but a little tough to navigate. And although I say “quiet”, it is in the forest, and the forest noises are loud at night! Geckos, roosters in the morning, etc, quite the chorus. Breakfast and dinners were very tasty Indonesian fare. The views are Spectacular across the forest. The Joglo room/house is good, but the bathroom and shower is quite dated. Not the same standard as the double rooms. The host is a great character and helped us feel at home and settle in. We tasted the tea, which was lovely.

Pool was being filled up when we arrived, so not so inviting, but over the days, it was getting replenished (due to leaks, I believe). We didn’t use the pool at all in the end, nor the sauna. There was a toilet in the communal area downstairs by the gym and sauna, but it was not clean. The entrance to the Joglo house is disappointing - see the photo, you approach from the back side, which is not its best angle. Hard to change this, but you should not have false expectations.

Dangerous and dirty swimming pool. No way to access pool other than 1 metre drop onto a ledge with no steps . Absolutely no maintenance or hygiene. Can’t believe the reviews they don’t in any way reflect our experience . Bedding damp and food choice non existent . Price in no way reflects what’s on offer . Never done a review before but this place is a health hazard in my opinion . Ridiculous drive to get there up rough track only suitable for motorbike. We have travelled all over Bali and don’t expect anything luxurious but come on this property and its owners are taking people for a ride. It is not quiet we had to listen to cockerels screaming g all night until dawn. Booked for 2 nights only stayed for one as arrived late and couldn’t wait to leave. Owner Not interested in listening to our concerns. Finally no key lock to our bedroom just given a padlock to secure it which really says everything about this place.

The view in the morning is good. The dinner is simple but very tasty. The service organized day trip with a driver within few minutes which is the only reason this got more than 1/10 from me.

I know some living nature is expected, but inside our room was flying bat, gecko, giant spiders and other stuff I don't even know the names for. The furniture in the house is very worn with lots of dents. In one of the dents there were some eggs inside and this it's where you have your head in bed. Needles to say, that was a difficult night. There were even snails in the bathroom and the main room. Curtains were dirty with lots of stains. Seriously, it's not worth it. Go somewhere else, there's plenty to choose from.

The property provided an excellent getaway for my weekend retreat. The owner was incredibly friendly and hospitable, which added to the overall positive experience. The room itself was excellent, offering comfort and all the amenities I needed. I truly enjoyed my stay and would highly recommend it to others looking for a relaxing escape.

The WiFi in my room was not functional, so I had to relocate to the dining area whenever I needed to use it.

The place is amazing in the middle of the mountain and forest, with an incredible stylish design, it is very peaceful and the host Wawan is very nice and welcoming!

The access is not very easy as it is a hidden place, we get there through tiny roads. To have flexibility on going around, it is recommended to come with motobike.

Beautiful food and peaceful location

Rooms need some attention and until the road is completed you need to be prepared for walk from road to place along single track.
