Kawshan Home Stay

The family is very nice and the location is cool because it is in the jungle and feels like an authentic experience. The breakfast was delicious, the wifi works really well and the fan and mosquito net combination in the bedroom helped me to sleep perfectly every night. I also loved that there were lots monkeys around (friendly ones) in the morning.

It was a bit hard to find at first but that was because I arrived late at night. The host was nice enough to come and meet me and show me the correct way to the accomodation after I got lost!

Kawshan home stay met my expectations and beyond. You are surrounded by nature and local families. It always felt safe, and it's a nice cozy home whether the sun is shining or on a rainy afternoon. You'll hear the sound of birds and monkeys. Monkeys come pretty close to the house so it's really nice for those who can appreciate the wonders of nature. During our 9 days stay we were lucky to meet Kawshan's family. Thurya, Nilum, Chamidu', Nishanta, and Niluka, such nice people. The beautiful Hirikitiya beach is only a 10 min walk, and Blue island beach a 5-10 min walk. There's a temple there and it's nice for snorkeling. Also Hirikitiya is good for snorkeling, there's turtles and beautiful beaches, although some days it might seem touristy, there's days in which it feels very calm and peaceful. There's a fantastic beach, Dikwella, beach, not for surfing but quieter and astonishingly beautiful. The city with its markets it's only behind that beach. We will miss how welcome and at home we felt in Kawshan's stay. We will most terribly miss Niluka delicious food, breakfast and dinner. We had dinner made by her 8/9 nights. The best food we had in Sri Lanka. Our holiday has not yet come to an end, and we truly fear we won't find a better place for our remaining vacation. Wonderful memory.

Really enjoyed the stay at Kawshan’s place, Walking distance to the nearby beaches. Delicious breakfast as well. Highly recommended place to stay at hiriketiya.

This guesthouse is managed by a young and very friendly man. It is located in a luxurious, very modern house with a nice terrace and garden and it was renovated last year. There is air conditioning available, the house is spacious, very smart, and everything is new and comfortable. It is a perfect location if you need silence and calm - you can listen to the nature sounds only (lizards, squirrels, monkeys, ocean waves). It is located close to the Hiriketiya beach with great opportunities for some water sports. But still, you can relax and not see any tourists or listen to loud music. Spending time with the owner on the terrace, talking and joking was the best option for every evening. It has an excellent value for the price and the standard of the house is like in a five-star hotel.

only cold water is available in the shower but given the temperatures there, it's not a problem. The house is on the hill so the tuk-tuk couldn't ride after the rain, walking there was also very hard because of the slippery road.

Like that we can use the kitchen, the place was confortable and large. Had a TV and living space for us all to chill in. Nice garden area with hammocks and the people around were lovely. Kawshans mum is very lovely and makes good breakfast. Not their fault, it was ours not counting total before giving it. Just a tip for anyone else.

Something happened with money when paying. Thought we had a paid enough but said there was money missing. Could of been an honest mistake from our behalf but all members were sure we paid enough. Felt happy here and it's not far from the beach/centre. We rented a motorbike which helped us get about a little easier.
