Tharaka Homestay

Firstly the location was excellent for us. Minutes from supermarkets, restaurants and the beach. The bus station is literally 5 minutes walk at best. Even though it’s central it was quiet enough for us. Lovely family running the homestay. The room was spacious, there was a kitchen adequate for what you’d need and also a large communal area on the same level as the bedrooms and kitchen. The bathroom was a good size with nice shower. Very good value for money. This was our third visit to Weligama and it topped the other places previously used.

There was nothing we disliked but I think a couple of slight improvements would make the stay better but these are just recommendations. -New pillows needed for sure. -Maybe an additional free standing fan. Just as an option. The ceiling fan is good but the room we stayed in was very big with high ceilings so maybe on those extra humid days would benefit from back up. As I say these are recommendations only. We really enjoyed our stay.

Very good value for the price, the room was clean and spacious and the location was very good close. It was awesome that you can use a small kitchen and a fridge. The host were extremely friendly and also offer tuk tuk rides for a good price. I would stay there again.

Wow, what a luxury homestay for a very decent price! The location is perfect. On a quiet street, away from the busy road, but just 30 seconds away from a big supermarket. The beach is just 3 minutes away, railway station is also close. Numerous restaurants and shops nearby. The room is spacious, the bed comfortable and gigantic (king size). Fan works fantastic. Mosquito net do protect and it's very nice to sleep under it. The place features 3 rooms, a HUGE hall equipped with fans, table and chairs, shared kitchen, and a bathroom. You can cook your meals on the stove, use a fridge, etc. It rather resembles a 3 bedroom apartment than a hotel. It feels like home. The homestay is located on the second floor, while the family lives on the first one so you gonna enjoy your privacy. The owner and his family are super friendly. Absolutely loved staying here for three nights and would definitely return.

Nice people, good place. Simple but with a shared kitchen and common room. Room for hanging up clothes and a mosquito net covering the bed. Very close to supermarket and the beach. Good WiFi.

The toilet door handle was very hard to use, when you had to open/close the door. But that's a minor thing
