Chalet Bergheimat Zermatt

We had a great stay in this apartment. We had the one with two bedrooms and two bathrooms, which was convenient in the morning as we would not get in each others way. Beds were good. Everything was modern and clean. We used the kitchen for cooking a few times and it had all we needed. The location is a double edged sword: it's a quiet area and from the balcony you see a grass field in front with behind that a mountain view including of the Matterhorn. This was fantastic. Loved looking at it every day. On the other hand, the location was 50 meters height difference (uphill) from the base / river level. Now, downhill was easy and you are at the main cable cars in a couple of minutes so we could start our hikes early in the morning (a big plus). But if you had to go to the nearest supermarket or bakery it would have been 30 minutes back-and-forth including the 50m very steep uphill hike. I recommend to use an electric taxi from the train station so you can get there easy with all your luggage, which is what we did. Could also have used the red bus which can drop you off at a higher point so you can walk downhill to the apartment, but sadly this bus was out of order due to road works several days, including on the day we arrived.

Perfect for family vacation. Clean and spacious 140m2 apartment on two floors and a nice view to Matterhorn. Good location close to the lift that takes you to Matterhorn glacier paradise. A bit of a climb back to the apartment, but I would call it good exercise :)

Location of the house was very good, it was also very clean when we arrived. The beds were comfotable and the house heating system worked very well.

Household utilities were insufficient; the amount of cutlery in proportion to the dishwasher tablet was imbalanced. The cooking equipment, plates were not enough; we had to use the dishwasher everyday; which is not sustainable). There should be spare towels that could also be bigger for someone who is tall or built. Toaster was not working well, it burnt everything regardless of setting.
