Old Town - Lai Apartment

Great location

Extremely dark apartment, no windows. No privacy in the second bedroom upstairs (no door, plus a glass wall looking into kitchen/lounge). Very bare with no furniture to store clothes upstairs. Should not be advertised as two bedroom flat. Non-functional shower in second bedroom upstairs, whole bathroom flooded when showering. No bath mats provided, we slipped twice coming out of bath/shower.

We stayed at the superior apartment with sauna. Central location inside the Old Town. We took an Uber from Tallinn port and got off right in front of the apartment building (it's in front of St Olav's Hotel). It's located just a few blocks away from the Old Town square. There is a 24-hour convenience store a block away. There is a wonderful restaurant (Margherita) on the same block. Quiet location: there was only one other property in this apartment (a foundation that did not seem to be occupied). Owner sent instructions via email, including on how to get the key (from a lock box) and house rules and even included pictures of the property from the street, the lock box and the trash bins outside the building. The apartment is very big, with a lot of space. Upon entering the property from the street, you have to go up a flight of stairs and then upon reaching the property itself, you have to go up another flight of stairs (this would be a problem for those with mobility issues; there is no lift). In the living area, there is one single bed and a sofa that can be used for sleeping. On the same floor, there is a bedroom with three beds (one single, one double), and a separate shower and toilet; there is a sauna. On the upper floor (loft) there are three beds (one single, one double) and a narrow sofa bed, and another toilet with bath/shower.

I have seen preview reviews commenting on the lighting. I agree that the apartment could use more lights. Some lights were not working, including one on the second floor bathroom, which made it very dark. Water was leaking from the bath tub on the second floor -- we reported both issues to the owner but we made it clear that we did not want it repaired while we were occupying the property but that it could probably be fixed in time for the next occupants.
