Awi Guest House

You can’t beat the location and Awi is the sweetest man. He was not only waiting to take us across to the island on his boat when we arrived around midnight, but he also arranged a driver to tour us around, a felucca ride around the island with his awesome nephews and a private shuttle to take us on to Luxor with stops along the way. The deck right on the Nile is the perfect chill spot. If you are looking for a quaint rustic getaway, you won’t find better value. It’s certainly not fancy, but it is comfortable and relaxing. Just what we needed after a few days in crazy Cairo.

Not a huge fan of wet bathrooms, but you get over that pretty quickly.

Mr Awi is a SUPER nice and accommodating host, he went out of his way waiting for us even we checked in very late due to Airport delays-- despite the long waiting hours, he had a taxi driver picked us up at the airport then he picked us up at the KFC which we hopped into a boat, what a refreshing signt to be in Elephantine Island. We had a great Nubian breakfast, spacious traditional room and a lovely sight because its facing the Nile River. Mr Awi is a great conversationalist and helped me a lot claim back my luggage the following day even carried it to be loaded to the Cruise. He is all around wonderful host, Highly recommended. We couldnt thank you enough Mr Awi. You have a big heart and I wish we should have stayed longer than be at the Cruise - which 3 of my family members had tummy issues but thats another story

What I liked about Awi Guest House was the personal touch and warm hospitality. The owner, Awi, went out of his way to make sure we felt comfortable and welcome—he even came to pick us up by boat, which was such a unique and special touch. Awi is not only friendly but genuinely cares about his guests, always checking in to ensure everything was perfect. The village was beautiful and fun to explore, with friendly locals who made us feel very welcome. Awi’s service was top-notch, and the breakfast he served each morning was delicious and fulfilling. It was a peaceful and relaxing place to stay, and I really enjoyed the overall experience. Awi truly made our stay memorable with his kindness and hospitality. The sunrise and sunset across the Nile River were absolutely stunning, adding a magical touch to the entire experience at Awi Guest House.

What I didn’t like: Honestly, there was nothing to dislike. My stay at Awi Guest House was perfect in every way!

Right on river bank at Elephantine island, with its own dock and 2 minutes walk from public ferry dock. Big apartment with brilliant river view includes 2 full bedrooms, kitchen, fridge, sitting area. Genuine village atmosphere (unlike the false tourist Nubian villages the boat tours take you to). No tourist market/people harrassing you to buy things. Despite being a village, the guest house has all facilities of 3 star hotel with good hot water, electricity, television, air conditioning etc. Good restaurants on island within short walk. Owner helps arrange taxi etc at very reasonable prices. Please be aware this is a village and surroundings will have animals and animals dung smell but this doesn't come into the guest house.

Breakfast was a bit limited.

A pochi minuti dell'arrivo in struttura ci cominicano l' overbooking. Pessima esperienza con tempo perso per raggiungere altro hotel con costi aggiujtivi di taxi per i diversi spostamenti.

We loved our stay at Awis guesthouse. The location right at the river on elephantine island is absolutely perfect. We felt right like holidays. The room was big and the beds comfortable. And we had the best view out of the window. Awi was so kind to us. He picked us up for free with his boat and brought us back. He helped us with tours and everything we needed. We can highly recommend this place.
