Cala Galdana Beach

The only good side was the beach at walking distance.

Very disappointing experience at Cala Galdana apartment. We had to leave and book a hotel the next day after not being able to rest and sleep as the aircon wasn't working so we boiled in there and also due to the tremendous noise next door. The apartment was totally outdated, we didn't find the basic soap and shower gel or some kitchen roll at least, the kitchen sponge disgustingly dirty, the cups all stained, the cutlery rusty and sticky, old yellow towels, hair and dirt in the bathroom's corners. Dirty fridge, no coffee machine and the coffee places were opening at 11am. They didn't inform us about the key place and we had to find it ourselves somewhere hidden. The lady in charge with the apartment was using google translate to communicate and even so when we told her about the missing soap she came back with some shower gel on a bottom of a bottle. We told the owner that we left and the reasons and he said that the aircon is new and working and we didn't know how to use it but it was showing an error code and when looked online it was about filter cleaning. He also said that it's always noisy in the apartments, so he can't do anything about it and the apartment is nice and clean. He suggested to have ourselves moved in another apartment he owns but we've already found a hotel with breakfast and pool at a better price, 2 minutes away a better beach, way cleaner and the water clear and beautiful turquoise colour. I just asked to have the tourist fee returned since we had to pay it twice and not a pound back from the accommodation even when we were pretty entitled to, he replied yes and then he deleted the message and never heard from him since. So this is how I paid a 5 star hotel price for this experience in total and had to learn a lesson out of it.

The apartment was damp and smelled very musty. The oven didn't work and on arrival the TV was also broken (although this was replaced for us). The listing, when we booked, promised WiFi but there wasn't any at the apartment.

What scared us off in Minorca was the prices of the apartments. However we found this house, which is a normal house, I would even say a real house, not one of those places crafted for tourists, but a normal house that a friend of yours could lend it over. The town was perfect, small but with restaurants and supermarkets. probably the place where the locals are nicer... everywhere else seamed like they didn't like tourists.
