Maskortxo - Basque Stay

We were delighted with the accommodation. It was very spacious and very well equipped. The view was outstanding and it was a joy to sit and watch the sailboats, paddleboarders and surfers from the 180 degree view. The location for us was great. It was in a quiet area right on the edge of two beaches; La Concha Beach and Ondaretta Beach. We walked along the promenade each day and evening to the old town. It was a beautiful walk enhanced by all of the sand art by local artists. For those with mobility issues, there is a bus stop right outside the door which goes to the edge of old town. (exact change on the bus is not required). There is a grocery store near the suite where groceries and alcohol can be purchased and a bakery in the Ondaretta area with delicious croissants and bread, A wonderful accommodation in San Sebastian.

The apartment is very big, the beds are good and the kitchen is spacy.

The windows are not isolated at all as it is on the first floor the cars on the street below (what is a Main Street of The city) drive literally through your apartment. On top as the view is nice the entire youth of the city makes party just outside of your window. In short the noise level is unbearable and you don’t sleep on the weekend. Monday night was better.

The apartment needs a major update.. the couch is super uncomfortable. Old chairs in the living room.. old thin towels..frozen drawers in the freezer.. mold in bathroom walls and ceiling..no hand soap in kitchen and only 1 bathroom.. zero kitchen supplies.. no dish towels or hot pads to get things out of the oven.. no coffee pods for first day ..

They key pick up was easy but its in a difficult location to find parking

The hot water system in the unit/villas did not always work. For whatever reason during out 2 night stay we could only have 1 hot shower out of a total of 5 showers. Disappointing

Fantastic views, good location and great size apartment

A bit shabby in places and smelt a bit damp. Electric blinds got stuck but managed to fix. Hot water is a bit hit and miss. There is a problem with the boiler as it showed an error code and stopped working. Turned it off and on again which seemed to do the trick, but definitely faulty.

La vue. Deux Chambres et deux salles de bains. Pour deux célibataires en voyage ensemble. Beaucoup de papier de toilettes fournies et 3 paires de sciesaux!

The building smelled bad from the entrance. We gradually realized the apartment also smelled very musty and moldy. The beds were damp and the towels small and not very nice. The curtains are old and dirty. Cut toenails were left on the window sill in my room…disgusting.Nothing was provided in the apartment — no basics like coffee, tea, salt, pepper, oil and vinegar. Nice to have a washing machine but there was no drying rack nor dryer. The shower was hot and cold the first morning and then cold the second one. I finally figured out how to adjust the water heater and we had hot water on the third morning. The blinds in one bedroom didn’t work and blocked the Lovely view of La Concha that I paid so much to have this apartment for. I asked for someone to come and repair the blinds. The person came the next day, did some work but couldn’t finish. He said he would come back the next day and did but then left, saying he didn’t want to bother us, but that he would come back later. He didn’t come back before we checked out. My friend was very disturbed by the smell, dirt and insects (and a feeling of something not right in the apartment). It’s a shame because the place could be very nice if well maintained. I’ve never paid so much for a place that is so not nice. No replies from the management after I checked in about the different issues we had with cold water, broken blinds and work going on in the building during the day that was very disruptive and noisy. The price I paid is outrageous for the quality we experienced. Unfortunately, we are required to pay before even checking in. I would expect a refund for part of the cost of this apartment. I will never book with this service through booking.com again (although I don’t remember if it’s visible that the apartment is through another company ‘Basque Stay’.) Unfortunately there seems to be no quality control — great place with them in Getxo/Bilbao and in San Seb horrible.

The location was excellent. The staff were so obliging, courteous and helpful, in all departments. Lots of gluten free options too, as I am a coeliac. Buffet breakfast was excellent value. The rooftop sun lounges and pool were lovely to use.
