Apartamentos Alcalá

We travelled with a baby and this apartment was the best choice. Everything is available in 15 minutes of walk. Very close to the park Retiro. It was possible to come back for lunch and dinner and then go outside again. The landlady was very kind and she gave us some tips about good restaurants and places to visit. I strongly recommend this apartment to people with kids

How central to everything

The beautiful old building, tall French doors to the outside. The location is stunning. The beautiful old-fashioned elevator. Tremendous help from the staff. Patricia provided so much help, including impressive food recommendations.

The only bathroom for the three of us was an ensuite bathroom. We worked through it, but I'm not sure if everyone else would.

Great location, easy walking distance to metro and train stations, multiple markets, Retiro Park, and the Prado and Reina Sofia museums. Nice view of Palacio Cibeles and Calle Alcala from balconies. We enjoyed the ambiance, character, and craftmanship of this century plus old building, and appreciated the custom elevator after long days of walking about town. Host Patricia was very friendly, texted directions to nearby markets, and promptly responded to our questions, and even dropped off a guide for the local festival that we were unaware was taking place. Minor suggestions: 1.) The bathmat, shower towels, hand towels, and kitchen towel were appreciated. We were accustomed to washcloths being included in USA lodgings, but perhaps these are not standard in Spain as none of the apartments in the three cities we visited included them. 2.) The host left an excellent and succinct multilingual printed guide to the apartment and surrounding neighborhood. Coming from the USA, we were unfamiliar with the dishwasher, washing machine, and thermostat control icons, but were eventually able to intuit how to use them - perhaps a one sentence instruction added to the printed guidebook instructing which buttons to use to start a basic wash cycle and turn on the temperature control could be added.

Excellent location - tourist friendly but not too touristy. Building had lift and apartment very clean. Patricia provided excellent tips on restaurants and things to see.

The property retained a lot of the original features , old locks , window shutters, high ceilings, an old fashioned lift with an upholstered bench. Which we adored.

The property boasted an exceptional location, proximate to numerous restaurants and within walking distance of prominent landmarks such as Retiro Park, Plaza de España, the Museo del Prado, and Calle Serrano. Patricia, our host, provided outstanding service, offering valuable dining recommendations and promptly addressing all inquiries. The building itself was architecturally stunning and featured one of Madrid's oldest residential elevators, a truly remarkable detail..
