Atico Alhamilla

If you arrive by car, this spacious attic apartment with an underground parking garage below will serve you well. The impressive Alcazaba, a fortified citadel, is worth a walk. As is the guitar museum, which traces the development of the modern 6-string Spanish guitar. On our way to the Alcazaba, we encountered one of our favorite restaurants – Almedina – with very tasty North African cuisine. If you enjoy archaeology, there is a fabulous library right in the living room. A well-designed archaeological museum is nearby, which has an exhibit about the Los Millares copper age site. The site itself can be visited (a half hour north of Almeria) but check the hours because the site is gated outside of opening hours, which were 10 – 2 when we were there in October.

The instructions for using the garage and accessing the apartment are a little tricky, so let the manager know when you are planning to arrive and wait on the street outside the garage for someone to meet you and help with the parking and elevator. Not really a problem, but it does mean finding a spot to pull over on the street until someone shows you into the garage (assigned parking spot.) No fault of the apartment but the weather was too gusty while we were there to enjoy the beaches. Luckily there was plenty else to do.

The location is very practical, between the beach and the city centre, and very close to the train station Well equipped, the balcony is amazing! Overall it is very relaxing and cosy

Atico Alhamilla was clean, spacious, well equipped with a superior balcony in a quiet building with a lift and secure access. It was well located, within easy walking distance of the beach and the old town. Amenities such as restaurants, supermarkets, shops etc were all close by. Our host was very accomodating- answering queries promptly and even allowing us stay some extra hours on the day we departed. We greatly enjoyed our stay.

the hosts are really friendly. the rooms are exactly as on the pictures with really big terrace. parking in garage which is important, because around there free parking is available but really hard to find. animals are welcome and treated kindly.

wi-fi works basically only in living room. it could be cleaner, but i looked past it. i was in holiday after all and not everyone is such a monk, with incredible cleaning standards as i am.
