Self catering Skipton town centre apartment

A cosy and functional apartment in the center of Skipton, shops (including groceries) and food in walking distance, parking close by. Useful kitchen equipment. Close to local sights such as the castle, and provides easy access (at least by car) to Yorkshire Dales. Check in/out was easy (with local shop).

The automatic light in the bathroom (movement detector) was a bit annoying, since you might have gotten lights off during a shower (solvable but not too convenient). Also, when we stayed at some point there started some beeping sound from time to time (not sure what it was), but I guess they solved it by now.

The owner was flexible in allowing me to drop bags ahead of the check-in time and helped take my bags up to the flat. The location, only a couple of minutes walk from the bus station, and the amount of space in the flat were the best things about this place. The thick curtains in the bedroom were a necessity due to the street light immediately outside the window. I was impressed by the quick response of the owner when I muddled up the entry code. One of the employees of Subway contacted the owner to confirm the correct digits. I appreciated the useful laminated notice in the bathroom for using the shower.

Considering it's advertised as having a fully equipped kitchen there was a very poor supply of cutlery and cooking implements. There was no microwave. The can opener didn't work. The cleanest looking saucepan was not suitable for the induction hob. There were no instructions for the TV, the washer/dryer, or hob. It took ages to figure out where the WiFi code was as it was not immediately visible on the back of the hub. In the bedroom, one of the bedside lamps didn't work simply because the cable was too short to reach the socket which was behind the headboard. It's worth noting that the photos in the gallery apply to more than one flat. I was in flat 2, so the others may be better supplied. If you're not a fan of traffic noise and living above a pedestrian crossing then this is not the flat for you. It didn't bother me as I was only there for a couple of nights.

Water was dripping from the ceiling in the living room. This could not be repaired quickly. My coat was stolen. After complaining, I got the coat back from someone who said he had taken it by mistake. I refused to stay in the apartment after everything that had happened, and Booking.com took my side. However, the landlord has refused to refund the money for the 10 out of 14 days I did not stay there.

Handy being in the centre of town.

While the apartment has a lot of potential, the lack of cleanliness really lets it down. The hand soap, and shower gel containers in the bathroom were empty and the kitchen wasn't very well stocked. The couch and the beds are really uncomfortable. The downside to being in the centre of town was the noise. There are two very noisy bars on Swadford Street which you can hear really clearly in the apartment.

Perfect flat for an ok price! A lot of weird comments here made me a bit wary but I thought it was very nice. :)

Spacious, comfortable, very helpful hosts. Everything you need.

Needs a real good clean. Especially the kitchen.
