Sorry this is long but Please Read. We received friendly contact from Corrina the owner almost as soon as we booked but no response since contacting her re our concerns about the safety and cleanliness of the property. We did not go looking for problems but merely encountered them throughout our stay, had we been aware earlier we would have gone home and not stayed but it was dark and we had our elderly mam with us. After a lovely day/evening in Whitby we went to the apartment with fish and chips. All pots, microwave plate  and utensils needed a good scrub but unfortunately the only place to do this was in the small sink in the toilet with shower gel. This small sink in what used to be a cafe toilet was the only place to fill the kettle, get a glass of water, clean your teeth and wash pots which were bigger than the sink! We booked for 3 but only had 2 forks and one of the knives in the cupboard had jam on. The only seating area is a two seater sofa in the front bedroom, so we ate on our knee, not what I'd describe as an apartment but we could have lived with that had it been clean. When we went to get ready for bed, there was a really loud boiler in the back bedroom with an old large wardrobe in front of it, we could not find a carbon monoxide dector in the property and the smoke alarm in the hall looked like it had been removed. One of the beds in the back room only had a mattress protector on it, no sheet. The other bed had a stain on the pillow. The double bed in the front room had stains on the duvet cover near the pillows and the sheet was so creased it looked like someone had slept on it. Myself and my elderly mam slept on top of the double bed with coats over us, my sister slept on the two seater sofa with a coat over her. They were three rugs placed on the wooden floor around the double bed and when my mam stepped off the bed the rug moved and she slipped,  these are a trip hazard that clearly havn't been risk assessed.

On arrival it was not representative of the advertised photos as listed on booking.com on 17/09/2022 (they changed to photos when I complained?), which I later discovered where from 2021, before the division of the ground floor apartment into two separate accommodations, which I can only describe as sub-standard bedsits now. No proper kitchen, just a food station in the entrance. What breaches of health and safety regulations I am making to Scarborough Borough Council 0n 25/09/2022 in relation to this Apartment A: 1. The second rear bedroom has a gas boiler in an alcove, which is covered in front by a double wardrobe you would need to move to access it? There is no carbon monoxide detector in this room? It is obvious the gas boiler heats more than Apartment A. 2. The main gas master turn off leaver for the property is under the floor boards in the front bedroom? 3. The only source of drinking water is from the sink in the shower room and this very small sink is the only place dishes and cutlery can be washed as there is no kitchen sink or other sink? 4. There was no fire alarm within Apartment A and for the size and floors within the property there was no fire safety instructions or equipment, guidance on what should be done in the event of a fire? It is my opinion that this Apartment A, represents a significant health and safety risk to whomever is accommodated in it! Before I booked the accommodation, I looked at the photos on the listing carefully and on arrival the photos did not match the accommodation at all. It is not an apartment. It is two bedrooms, a shower room and an entrance containing a fridge small wall cupboard and very small base unit, with a microwave, kettle, drinks pod machine, toaster. All dishes need to be washed in the very small shower room sink and this is the only source of water for the whole accommodation ( unlikely to meet hygiene lawful standards).
