Lews Castle

A wonderful and unforgettable stay in Stornoway for us. We booked the Ranol apartment, which offers a magnificent view of the harbor and the bay. The kitchen was well-equipped, and everything else we needed was there, including very tasteful furnishings, a super-comfortable bed, and a modern, large bathroom. If you're not in a hurry in the morning, you can also help yourself to breakfast (not included) in the castle's café from 9 a.m. onwards. This is also highly recommended, and the staff there are very attentive and very friendly. We would gladly return anytime. Thank you very much.

We had a spacious room as it was set up for wheelchair access. The room was very modern, a comfortable bed and pillows with super hot shower and everything we needed. Christina, the manager, met us at the door and helped us to our room with our luggage. There is no reception, or concierge nor housekeeping (which is fine as we dont get new towels every day). If you need anything you ring a number. The cafe is a little 'souless' with an adequate breakfast and great staff. The location was lovely, set in beautiful gardens with woodland walks.

We didn't feel like we were staying in a castle. Our room was ultra modern. All the rooms on the ground floor seem to be used for functions and events. There were no details of the history of the castle, which we would have loved to read. I have always wanted to have a 'castle stay', but I didn't connect at all.

Loved the quiet location but still within walking distance of Stornoway for restaurants and shops. Great to have full facilities for self catering if you don’t want to eat out all the time.

Not the cheapest of options but having an apartment was so much better than just a bedroom in a hotel or B&B.
