Cabin at Aithernie

Excellent cabin, fairly new and fully equipped. Plenty of room and comfortable. The last bit of road is indeed a bit bumpy. Just take it easy and you'll be fine. Every car can make it, just a case of slowing down. Nice and quiet area, pretty good distance to Edinburgh and shops are close by. Very nice host, really no complaints! We only had the 2 nights, but staying longer would have been awesome.

The location was where we wanted to be for ease of travelling to other points of interest, Leven itself does not have much to offer. The cabin was clean and comfortable, it was extremely hot the weekend we visited therefore the cabin being made of wood was hot, as a tip for the hosts I would suggest 100% cotton duvet covers as the ones on the duvet retained the heat making it a little too hot but otherwise we had a comfortable stay.

The outside of the cabin could do with a little tlc, by this i mean the outside seating cushions should be rotated with clean ones, these are old, the decking hadn’t been swept in a while. We arrived a little early, this was mainly due to the fact that we wanted to ensure we had the correct place then we could relax and go and get supplies, we were greeted by the hosts wife I believe who, instead of a nice to meet you, looked at her watch and said we were early, we were only 40 mins early, the host was away getting some washing up liquid. Apart from this the rest of the stay was fine, any issue we had were promptly resolved and we enjoyed our stay. Another point is the dirt track farmers road leading to the property is not well maintained, this does not belong to the property but the farmer so a careful drive in first gear is recommended if you value your cars under carriage.

Comfortable cabin had all you needed

The cabin was beautifully clean, the garden and surrounding countryside were stunning with deer and red squirrels to spot from the outdoor seating area. The kitchen was well equipped. Supermarkets were a 5 minute drive away, dining area was comfortable meaning you could cook easily. Lounge area was comfortable allowing for family / friends to enjoy each other’s company. Really accessible for strolls along the beach, walking through forests or quiet country villages. Great for soaking up the atmosphere in the University town of St Andrews or visiting local gin/ whisky distillery and other tourist attractions. Plenty to do in the area.

Light in the kitchen was temporarily not working. Host apologised and said it had been reported to the electrician.

The cabin is brilliant, everything you need for a self catering break. Loads of space for children to run around and plenty of games (inside and outside) Would highly recommend the cabin Great location for visiting Falkland Palace and villages and towns like Elie, Anstruther, Crail and St Andrews

The location, the peace, lots of space, well equipped, comfortable and very pretty. The surrounding gardens are a joy.

Not so much a ‘not like’ as a ‘needs attention’ and very minor - the windows and doors are tricky to open and close, and I worried about leaving the window open incase the window caught it and damaged the hinge as there is no catch to prevent this. I’m sure this will be sorted as the cabin is fairly new and it takes time to find and cover snags.

Great cabin. Had everything we needed. Was greeted by our host and had a good chat about local attractions.

The road in is a bit rough.
