Simon’s Seat View

The pleasant welcome and general hospitality of our hosts, who were flexible, friendly, generous and obliging. The location was very peaceful and fairly remote.

The accommodation had originally been designed as a home cinema and then adapted to B&B use, so it did not entirely fulfill the latter role. The layout was mostly good, but space was wasted on a huge corner sofa while the kitchen dining area was too small (there was no table, just a breakfast bar). It was clean and wholesome and well-furnished, but felt slightly spartan. Car parking was quite tricky - an awkward access and limited space (but we managed). The marketing name 'Simon's Seat View' is not the actual house name, so it makes it more confusing to find. Better to include the actual house name as well. Public transport is almost non-existent, so car is needed to get around.

It was a beautiful property. We booked it as we were going to a wedding nearby it is In a gorgeous location - it was spotlessly clean with everything we needed and a huge home cinema system which went down well with out son. The hosts were so lovely too , Even helped me out with a wardrobe malfunction ahead of the wedding - so kind x

Friendly, flexible hosts. Wonderful peaceful location surrounded by beautiful places to view, walk and visit, including by foot. Super clean, pleasantly decorated and well appointed cottage. Laminated printouts of recommended local walks. Fast WiFi. Also .. if you like watching movies on holiday, this is definitely the place for you.

Only really minor stuff: - There's no dishwasher so adding a drying rack would reduce the risk of a crockery avalanche into the sink! - Could use a few wall hooks in the bathroom/bedroom.

The space was ample enough, even for a family of 4. The bathroom was quite large (shower not very powerful). If you have time, there’s lots of DVDs to watch but we didn’t have time. The kids did try to watch one film but we couldn’t get the player working. Theres a big projector in the front room (no actual tv). Plenty of plates / pans etc. Tea / coffee making facilities (kettle and lots of sachets).

It didn’t appear to have had a good clean from the previous occupant. There was a mark on the wall in the kitchen from something that looked like bolognese but we only made breakfast there. Also the bedside cabinet was a bit dusty and was not clean. There was no hair dryer. The nearest shop was 15/20 mins away. We brought most things, just not milk and butter. Sometimes in Airbnb/the equivalent, these things are left as a gesture but they weren’t.
