APARTMENT 2 and 4 - PORTRUSH MARINE APARTMENTS

Communication with hosts was fantastic - Pearl responded to my message very promptly & clarified a situation for me. Also, information r.e. access / heating etc received on the morning of our arrival. Central location - view from living / kitchen area was beautiful & I enjoyed being able to still soak in some of the atmosphere even when the children were in bed! Apartment is located, within walking distance to all the main attractions! It is directly above a chip shop - highly recommended as we enjoyed a delicious dinner from there! During our visit, we enjoyed: Carrowmena Activity Centre for the 'Maize Maze', Downhill Beach, Currys amusements, Causeway Sea Tours, Maud's Ice Cream.

I was disappointed at the standard of cleanliness throughout the apartment however, the entrance as soon as you open the main door off the street was particularly bad. It appeared that skirting boards / window sills / windows in the apartment hadn't been cleaned in some time as there was an accumulation of dust / dirt. There was evidence of pieces of dirt all through the wooden floor in the living area. A brush & dust pan would have been really advantageous as the children had crumbs of their fish & chips on the floor which I had to scrape together with kitchen roll & attempt to lift. Overall, the apartment looked quite tired with ripped wallpaper & yellowing paint in places. There was actually chewing gum stuck to the ceiling around 1 of the windows in the living area. The central location of the apartment was also a bit of a disadvantage as Portrush is a busy wee town & it was very noisy, all night long! This is absolutely no fault of the hosts! Just something to bear in mind. Crockery was short in supply - we actually used paper plates which I'd packed for picnics while we were out & about. Sofa bed comes apart at the center so would not be possible for 2 to sleep on. Also, we were unable to locate any duvet cover for the duvet under the sofa bed.

A little tired looking, lacking in any sign of any effort to create a more welcoming place to stay. Cracked mugs, peeling wallpaper, limited towels. Passable but for price expected a little more.

Flat smelt of smoke as soon as we entered- really bad which I was not happy about as it is stated on booking.com is was smoke free did try and contact owner via text message and WhatsApp but did not respond to either. Other problems I had no blind on window near kitchen table, bedroom blind would not close, was freezing tried to put heating on but didn't work.

Very central excellent location. Also apartment very clean and tidy. Hosts were very good with communication, very helpful and when we asked for something we had it sorted within the hour. Would definitely recommend and would definitely stay again.

Only thing I would say about this apartment would be that it would need some curtains. Even though the location is excellent it wouldn’t have easy access for everyone as to enter apartment you need to go up a flight of stairs but this is a minor complaint.
