Bishop's Gate Apartment

The location was excellent, the apartment was tidy and warm, and thinking of the place as a three star hotel, certainly met that expectation.

There was a musty smell that wasn’t great and while it was a quiet neighbourhood, outside noise travelled inside very easily.

Excellent location just outside the walls of the city, so we could walk to everything. Simply parked the car for the duration - great to have parking. We only were staying two nights with no intentions for cooking or washing, but those facilities were available and looked suitable.

Not totally clean (cobwebs in bathroom), couches are well worn, kitchen could use a few more things (another skillet, spatula, batteries in clock) and also an extra blanket

The location of the apartment was perfectly suited to visit the walled city and nearby areas. The apartment was roomy and clean. The bed was very comfortable.

We had trouble getting in as there was poor communication about check in protocol.

Unfortunately this accommodation did not meet our expectations. Firstly, upon arrival we were unsure where to go, we tried ringing the number provided however no answer. We had a look around the area, which did not feel safe. We spotted what looked like a resemblance of the photo advertised. The door was unlocked, no host available. Which we found quite strange. First impressions, the place smelt fosty and damp. The keys were left in the kitchen, which did not feel safe as anyone could have entered the property. The kitchen was very unclean with crumbs and stains on the work benches and sticky yellow residue in the cupboards. The bed sheets were damp and smelt. The place was cold. My friend has asthma, this would not have worked. Very disappointing as we had driven 1.5 hours to get here. We did not feel safe nor comfortable staying here, we had no option but to make another booking for the night. The cheapest hotel we could find was £330 for 2 nights. I booked this accommodation for my friends birthday (£160) in total I had to therefore pay almost £500 to stay in Derry. Would not recommend this place, sadly. We were also quite surprised that the host had not contacted us / followed up about our stay when realising that we left after being there for less that 30 minutes.
