Orchid House

No private outdoor seating area as it is so close to the main house. Was expecting a bungalow in its own garden. Although it appears to be a converted garage the facilities were fine and it was quite close to amenities.

Location was very good for me

The property was very welcoming with lots of space. We had everything you would need for a short/long stay. Great value for money and quiet too. Safe secure on site parking. They have had a new boiler so heating and water was as you would expect it to be.

Although we knew this property was at the back of the house, we didn’t realise just how close it was and that there would be no privacy unless the blinds were closed, it’s literally in someone’s back garden, I’m just glad their children didn’t play in the garden as I would have felt very uncomfortable. It’s not been cleaned very well, there was crumbs on the worktop and under the toaster, there was bits of food left in the fridge as it hadn’t been cleaned out. Marks all over the cupboards doors, like food stains! The microwave also had food splatters in and smelt of someone’s dinner. The bin hadn’t been cleaned and smelt, it was dusty and lots of cobwebs. The shower was terrible, although it was warm there was hardly any pressure as it seemed blocked with lime scale. The shower hadn’t been cleaned properly and there was hair on the floor. The toilet is broken and doesn’t fill up unless you take the lid of and press the button back up. The tv needs updating to get channels, there is no wifi, which we thought would be ok as we could use our own, but there is no phone signal. The first aid box needs refilling as I needed a plaster but it was empty. On arrival, there was no welcome pack or even any milk and the shops are a good 15 min walk away. We ended our stay early as we didn’t feel comfortable being there, when we got to the car it was covered in bird poo after having to park it under a tree!

It was very clean and comfortable. The kitchen was well equipped and would be suitable for a longer stay as well.
