Skeldergate View Apartments

Location was excellent. Not far from the railway station and there are great restaurants nearby. Property was lovely with everything you could possibly need.

Great location, just across the bridge from the centre and only 5-10mins from train station. Apartment is bigger than the photos show and very comfortable for a cosy hideaway to break the sightseeing.

Can't think of much

We are a family of two adults and a 5 year old. We initially booked for two nights. We picked the apartments due to price, but primarily location. We did not expect much given the price compared to other apartment in the city, but we were pleasantly surprised when we arrived. Gaining entry was easy. We were emailed the external door code to gain entry to the building shortly after booking. We received a second email the day before we travelled with the internal lock box code (I assume this is changed after every stay). We arrived earlier than we could check in (Informed 3pm) so I had booked a 'Bounce' bag drop off at the vape shop which was literally right next door. This was super convenient. While in the city we received a WhatsApp from the owner to say we could check in early if we wanted to (midday). Upon getting into the building we climbed the staircase which is tight and steep, but this was explained in the initial booking and this is one of the most historic cities in the world. These buildings were built along time ago so we expected this and did not find it an issues. The apartment itself was spacious (Much bugger than we had expected). It had a fully loaded kitchen including washing machine, oven/hob and microwave. Tea and coffee was available, we only had to buy milk. There is a Sainsbury's local across the road. The kitchen/living room are in one room There was a small dining table a come sofa and a smart TV. The sofa pulled out into a bed also, but our 5 year old has happy to sleep on the sofa. The bedroom was also spacious with plenty of storage for clothes. There was a small ironing board and iron. The bed was come. Don't get me wrong it was not our bed a home, but it was comfy enough for a few nights. There was a good bath/shower, but be warned the hot water gets HOT. We enjoyed our trip so decided to stay 2 extra nights. We tried to extend our stay, but unfortunately they were booked so could not accommodate us.

The only issue we had was the noise. This is also mentioned in the initial booking so accepted this. When the windows are closed nothing can be heard. Unfortunately we had 2 very hot nights. The first we kept the windows open so heard every delivery truck and drunk walking through the streets. The second night however we discovered a fan heater. We were able to keep the windows closed and set the fan away without the heater. This worked a treat.

Stairs - but was ok

The hotel is in a great location, right in the middle of the city centre. Short walking distance to lots of lovely bars and restaurants. We booked this apartment for a weekend trip to see the York town and it did the job. The apartment is clean and cozy, was perfect for 2 of us. It had everything you’d need etc washing machine with washing pods, bathroom stuff (even little things like make-up sponges & q-tips, hairdryer etc if you forgot them) which I thought was nice. There were 2 TVs - one in the living room & one in the bedroom with access to Netflix.

The only thing I’d say the pillows weren’t the comfiest, but that might just be our personal preference.

Excellent location. The apartment was beautifully decorated and spotless, had everything we needed and more…..

The only thing we struggled with was the stairs up to the room. We stayed for 3 nights and having to carry all our luggage etc was hard. Needed to do a few trips up and down, but it did stipulate this on the website.

Nice flat, very well located near to (but not in the middle of) York attractions. Flat is well-equipped and comfortable.

Bathroom is a bit tight

Dobrze wyposażone mieszkanie. W kuchni toster, ekspres do kawy, korkociąg, dużo naczyń, cukier, kawa, herbata czy papier do pieczenia. Przytulne i ciepłe mieszkanie, bardzo dobra lokalizacja. Blisko do katedry, Jorvik Centre oraz muzeum. Polecam❤️
