Trendy Apartments as Base to Discover Ghent

The wifi connection was good enough for us. The smart tv also allowed us to log into our own online accounts, e.g. Netflix. The shower itself had good water pressure and temperature. There is plenty of cupboard space! The apartment is within walking distance from the end station of one of the tram lines into the city if you don't want to drive in.

The apartment itself is very modern from an architectural point of view. A little too modern für our taste, but more than adequate for short stay. We didn't like the fact that neither of the bedrooms had doors. Also that the shower / sink area, which together make the bathroom, is very open and is pretty much a walk through corridor. We didn't like the quality or comfort of the sofa or the dining table., which didn't have adequate seating. It might be time to update the furniture? Anthony the host was very polite and helpful. Thank you Anthony P.S. A couple of things that didn't bother us, but which might be interesting to some people reading this: The apparent does have free parking at the rear of the building. This is good, but it may be interesting to note that the access though the automatic gate is fairly narrow if you have a big car. Parking in the street in front of the house wasn't a problem whilst we were there. This was free and more comfortable for us. Also access up to the 2nd floor apartment is via quite a narrow, fairly steep staircase with a few tight turns going up. This didn't bother us, but might be useful to know if you have big cases as the stairs are narrow. You will need to take care that you don't bang the walls. There is no lift. The apartment is a way out of town in a residential area that has limited choice of restaurants or shops near by. The neighborhood was noisier, mostly traffic, than we expected, but we didn't feel unsafe or anything like that. The right hand window in the living room was defect. Someone came very quickly to view this and we were told it would be fixed the next day, but it wasn't. Hopefully it will be before your visit :-)

Some smell in the bathroom

Very roomy apartment, very clean and well equipped. Building and apartment are accessible via code so arrival can be done at any time. There is a convenient supermarket around the corner. It is at a suitable distance from Gent so it allows to set a basepoint at the apartment, at a reasonable price, and visit the touristic Belgian cities from here. The owner is very friendly and willing to help you at any occasion.

Bedrooms are facing the street. There is not a lot of traffic, but traffic noise can be disturbing if you are a light sleeper.

- Friendly staff - They gave me detailed information to check-in and out.(email and text messages) - Big and clean - Private parking lot. - Just next to the supermarket.

No personal space.... - Open shower room was not easy to use for a 3 generation family. - There were no doors for the rooms. - 2nd floor without elevator.

A little bit away from the city, however a short drive and you are back in city centre. There is a tram stop also nearby. Everything was perfect for our 2 nights stay.

Apartment was impeccable, supermarket is just round the corner. A short walk to the tram that takes you into Ghent town.

There was no shower curtain so a bit exposed when showering

Very good communication with the host, access was easy. As I travelled to work and had to be at the Site Zwijnaarde - Onderzoek it was a convenient location for me. However it is a bit far from the city centre if you consider it a location for casual sightseeing. There is a tram that goes from the location to the city centre but it does take 30-40 minutes depending on the traffic (which apparently can be quite substantial in Ghent).

There was a bit of a sewage smell coming from the shower drain and since the bathroom is an open space just next to the bedroom (which is also open) the smell couldn't be contained.
