Ichijyo Ivy

Great location on quiet street but near bus stops, many food shops, cafes, temples and shrines within easy walk! Imperial Palace and wonderful Kyoto Gyoen just about a 15 min walk, Nijo castle fairly close, and the gems like Nishijin Textiles and Raku Museum About a 5 min walk. The apt itself was cozy, clean and fully equipped with- even included a vacuum cleaner , basic office supplies and a balcony for hanging laundry . Use of washing machine free!

Many stairs and no handrails, no elevator and I was on the 4th floor- no problem except with luggage.

The room was comfortable and well equipped with a burner, microwave, shower, table, and desk. Everything needed for a short stay was provided. check in was very easy and accommodating.

Thin pillows and very firm couch. But when I got used to it, it was good for my back and sleep 😄 Very tiny bathtub, you can't relax in it. I had light claustrophobia in it. The window was to the road, but at night it was mostly OK. Be aware of absence of the elevator if you have a heavy baggage If you want to have quick access to JR lines (if you have jr pass) not best location for you. It takes 25 min to kyoto station, will take much time from your trip

A lot of clattering from the building next door in the evening. I could feel the bed frame through the mattress so sleeping was uncomfortable.

The room was more spacious than I thought, and the household facilities were well maintained. It was clean and the bed was very comfy. The bus stop is only a few minutes walk away from the unit makes travelling convenient. The staffs were very helpful and responsive too when I had to check-in way past their usual check-in time.

Difficulties will be met if you have large luggages. The only nearby public transport is the bus, and the buses don't allow large luggages onboard. So either you save money by walking quite a long way to the building from a train station, or you have to spend money by ordering taxi or luggage delivery services. On top of that, after arriving at your destination, you still have to carry your large luggages up a narrow staircase to your room

This is my second time staying at this place and of cause it’s great. Super easy to get the key and it feels like home. I don’t want to feel like I stay in the hotel so it fit prefect. Would definitely go back.
