Maria was a really lovely host, great communication. In a lovely location in the arts district and easy walk into the old town

Unfortunately the construction next door was very noisy one morning from 8am, but the next day it was quiet, so it’s the luck of the draw on whether it will be noisy or not.

Nicely decorated oldish appartement, lots of character, on a quite street outside the tourist area. The host warned us about noise from building next door during the day, but it never bothered us. Easy walk to main sites. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

Steep steps? But this is a minor winged.

We liked that it was a traditional Porto apartment. The host was very welcoming and was there to greet us. There is a charming little bar/bistro next door frequented by local people.

Unfortunately there was construction work near the property during the day. The host did warn us about it before we arrived and it didn't disturb us too much.

Maria, the owner met us and passed the keys to us. She also shown us around and gave details of the facilities.

The apartment was clean and well furnished. We were unable to open the windows and shutters due to noise. There is a balcony on the twin bedroom which would have been nice to sit on but again, it looked down on the construction site and noise so could not use. There is a garden but due to construction noise, could not use.

We booked this holiday in July 2022 for a Christmas week long stay. Less than two weeks before arriving, the owner told us there would be construction noise. We asked for alternative accommodation. She said she couldn't help. We tried to find another flat but Porto was fully booked for Christmas and we could not find anywhere. We had to continue with our plans. Porto's Metro system is adding a new Pink line to its services and they have started excavating the land adjacent to the apartments. They are constructing a huge extraction unit underground. The noise was unrelenting, started at 8am until after 8pm each day. Christmas Day was the only time there was no building work. We were unable to spend time in the flat. We had to take all our meals away from the noise source. Local bars and restaurants were closed because of it. At times, the walls shook with the vibration. We complained to the owner Maria on many occasions. She was unable to help. Even on the days the workmen promised to do less noisy work, they went back on their assurances. It became a nightmare holiday. Lorries and cement vehicles were turning up non stop. Cranes were erected just a few feet from the flat. This was not city noise, this was heavy construction noise and the holiday should not have been booked by the owner. Booking.com advise to consult the owner first in these circumstances. We have done this to no avail. Maria does not take responsibility for the problem. She says that she only booked three night holidays through the season due to the construction problem, but she accepted a full week booking from us, and there is no mention of the works on the booking.com website, and all the pictures of the frontage and gardens are old ones, and so there is no way of knowing what you are paying for until you arrive there. Maria then offered us a 50% reduction on a future booking at her discretion, which we refused, and she has since rescinded this offer.

We loved that we had an apartment to stay in during our vacation in Porto. The kitchen facilities were perfect...the day before a rainy morning, we went to Bolhao Market to buy food to cook, and spent the rainy morning cooking! My kids loved the coziness of the apartment. The location is great to basically all the sights we wanted to see. Maria, our host, was amazingly gracious, helpful, and just a wonderful person! We would definitely book here if it is available if we are to find ourselves back in Porto.

Pushing a double stroller up and down Porto's hills was not fun, though that is not anyone's fault. 😑

Beautiful apartment, well equipped in fantastic location. Maria was so helpful and gave us a perfect introduction to the city.

One of the top places I have stayed in my travel experience. Maria’s apartment is beautifully and artistically decorated. The welcoming fruit bowl literally warms your heart. Easy walking distance to everywhere. Maria is the sweetest and most helpful host you can find. Thank you Maria for this most pleasurable stay in Porto!!
