Castle Terrace Exclusive Apartment - Home By The Castle Apartment

We stayed at this apartment in June 2025. The apartment is set within a secure walled plot with 3 ground floor apartments and a number of flats within a main building. We chose this one as it had private outside space which was lovely and gave us the opportunity to eat lunch in the garden on the rare occasion we were at the apartment during the day. The apartment itself was very well equipped and the air con was a god send as it was very hot during the period of our stay. The room is set a little lower than the outside space and it feels a bit cave like which I think kept the inside a little cooler. (Not a bad thing) The property is in the old quarter and well placed to walk to some of the local attractions. One of the main ones being a ride on the No 28 tram which literally runs past the place. First impressions leading up to the property can be a bit off-putting and the road outside is a bit uneven and there are nearby bins serving the restaurant next door but don’t be put off by this as once you are through the secure gates into the garden path area you could be a million miles away from the chaos outside. I thought the apartment was well positioned particularly for a visit to St Georges Castle which, as castles are, right on top of the hill but as you are already 90% of the way up that hill it wasn’t too much of a climb to get there. I would recommend this place if you want to visit Lisbon but you will need to be relatively fit as everywhere from here is either up or down a hill and the cobbled streets can be uneven in places.

Nothing to majorly dislike.

We loved the location, in an interesting part by the Castle, with lots of authentic restaurants to dine. The property was so well equipped, very clean, nicely furnished and the small garden was fabulous to sit out in. So many things were on our doorstep and after doing a walking tour we discovered different elevators to shortcut back up and the trams were nearby. Couldn’t have asked for more.

Everything. The check in process was very easy. There was a lot of information on the table about Lisbon. The location was perfect and the apartment was fabulous. A special breakfast on our terrace with the local peacocks was a highlight. Telma was great and helped booking us a taxi to the train station. Thanks Telma.

Stocked nicely, very clean, comfortable, pleasant studio with the outside garden feature, which was really nice, and right in the middle of Alfama - so convenient to a lot of tourist attractions, etc.

Very, very annoying to hear loud footsteps from the apartment above from time to time - especially after midnight! This really was an issue for us. Unfortunately, I don't think anything can be done.

Great location near to the castle (but thus, it's a quite steep path from the metro station to the apartment). Clean apartment with a very nice terrace. Due to the thick old walls, the apartment stays cool, also if the air condition is switched off.
