Bela Vista - Lissabon Altstadt

very cosy apartment, cool part of the city, near famous tram street. very well equiped kitchen, with all important things. everything is juat like on pics, our apartment was on the first floor. the stairs were not problem at all for us (the couple in 40-ies). Very clean, good wi fi. Lisabon is great for visit in this (november) part of the year, it’s not occupied by tourists at all.

2 towels (small and big) per guest are not enough for 5 days. we used taxi from the airport, according to the advice of the owner that price will be cca 15 eur, but we are not informed about potentional taxi fraud - the taxi girl driver took 48.5 eur. of course, that s not the owner’s problem, I just write this to inform future visitors about taxi frauds.

To be fair I need to say that apt has excellent location, it's quite cosy and has well equipped kitchen. AC is also a plus. Shover is very big. You also have iron at disposal.

The worst check-in experience I ever had ( and I travel a lot). I had to wait 1.5hr at the door for the keys !!! Complete lack of communication, there were few numbers to contact and every time different person responding witch makes it seem like some kind of shady bussines, when finally the lady with the keys arrived she did not say not even one word of apology for my wait, I was already collapsing after a transcontinental flight and she was going into some nonsese small talk with me, but was unable to give me one restaurant recomendation nearby. The general vibe I got was: we just want your money and don't care about you and introducing Lisbon to you. This was such a bad and stressful first impression I couldn't recover from it for the next 4 days. Apart from that, the apt is different then the one in the pics (they have 4 apts in the same building, so I guess they only uploaded the ones from the prettiest one.) The bed is for peopole who like soft beds (not me, but ok). The bedroom is not a closed space just to let you know, it's like a part of an open living room and kitchen. The courtyard is very small and dirty, ok for quick breakfast though.

We stayed in one of 4 flats on the first floor of this old property, which came with a small courtyard at the back. The two flats upstairs have balconies to the rear, although I don't think any have the benefit of sun, certainly not when we were there in late September (but of course, this would probably be a good thing in the summer!). The flat is small but has everything required for a base (nb no dishwasher/washing machine). We very much liked the area - it's quiet being largely residential and is close to the no 28 tram giving easy access to the more popular districts/restaurants; otherwise it's a fair walk or a taxi ride. There's a lovely park nearby which we really liked - it's frequented by locals and their families and has a lovely little cafe/bar popular in the evening/at weekends. There are a couple of supermarkets nearby which also sell bread. The representative who met us was really friendly and helpful and we were offered the opportunity to call him throughout our stay if we had any issues.

There are no frills here and it's fair to say the property could do with a little sprucing up. The apartment is in an old house and we appreciate that, but the kitchen floor tiles around the sink have lost their seal so always felt rather grubby; the place could do with a fresh coat of paint too as being all white, it is rather unforgiving. The tiny bedroom is essentially a curtained-off space between lounge and kitchen and one of you has got to be prepared to climb over your partner if you need to get to the bathroom. The floors are mainly bare floorboards so you can hear people above and on the stairs, so if you are easily disturbed by noise, this may be an issue for you.

It was very close to taxi's and different transport. Rodrigo was very helpful. The toaster wasn't working and he got us a new one straight away.

It's not that I didn't like it but the stairs to the appartment are steep and narrow. We were on the top floor apartment and the bedroom was up in the attic again to go down the hand rail was not right up to the first step and for someone with balance problems or an elderly person it might be quite dangerous. Appart from that it's a great appartment.

The patio was the best part (even the host admitted it!). Very sunny with flowers. The area was nice and quiet. Not many restaurants in the vicinity but quite good brunch places are within walking distance. The staff member (Rodrigo) was very helpful

The studio room was quite small and narrow. I was fine as a solo traveller, but can imagine feeling quite cramped with two people there. Hot water run out quite quickly, so careful with the shower.
