TOP appartement met garage "Au Franelle"

The apartment itself is super nice, bright, clean, with a lot of boho decorations which especially my 11y old daughter appreciated a lot. The living room is spacy and comfortable, the bedrooms are cosy, beds big and comfy. Kitchen quite well equiped. Everything was super clean and modern. The host was very nice and responsive. The apartment is located in a quiet street, just 3 min walk to the beach and dunes. Our dog was also very happy.

There were a few things that spoiled the impression. The entrance to the house, the lift and the underground garage have a very unpleasant smell. It´s not the responsability of the owner, but still. The key to the garage did not work, impossible to turn the key in the lock. I had to open the garage from inside to be able to enter the parking. The gate closes automatically again quite fast so by the time I brought the car to the gate, it closed again, so I had to run to the basement again. Easier when you are at least two of you, but I was alone at the beginning of the stay. The parking spot is super narrow, be aware if you have a bigger car. Another thing that cost us a lot of nerves, was the key to the apartment. Difficult to lock, unlock or even put in the key, it required a lot of juggling (and nerves). Perhaps it would be a good idea to change the lock. When we arrived, there was no wifi network, but after a phone call with Frank, the problem was solved and the wifi worked perfectly. The dishwasher was full of dishes when we arrived. Why do I have to unload somebody else´s dishes? Things like salt, pepper and maybe coffee filters would be a nice gesture. It always suprises me when these things are missing in the accommodation where you pay more than 120 eur per night. Many people complain about the fee for bedsheets and towels. In Belgium it´s quite normal, but it was not so obvious at the time of booking. Also, you learn about the guarantee of 250 eur only after you made the booking. Most of these issues can be fixed. It´s a pity, because the apartment itself deserves 10/10 points.

Lift was defect

Cosy Apartment, Clean and comfortable.

There are a lot of things that we didn't like. At first, we were informed at a very late stage after we made the reservation and at a point when we couldn't cancel it any more, about two very significant issues. The first was that we should pay a composite of 250€ before check-in. And second we should pay 20€ per person (100€ for us five) for sheets and towels. These two very important conditions, were not easy to see at all at the presentation of the apartment on Booking.com. Especially the amount of the extra fees for the towels and sheets were not mentioned at all. Anyway if these two conditions were obvious to see by the searching, we had not made this reservation. Secondly, a huge disappointment was the private Garage for the car. Please avoid it completely. This should not be allowed to be approached, of any kind of living creatures bigger than bacteria. We made this mistake for a couple of minutes and the car was smelling awful for the next two days. At third a fact maybe out of the responsibility of the apartment owners. The smell of the stairway was very unpleasant. I would describe it as the smell of a heavy-smoker's apartment. Very strong unpleasant impression. At last, I must mention that although we had to pay in front 250€ as a deposit, in order not to cause any damage to the apartment, there were already a pair of damaged things. The handle of the bathroom door and the lock of the apartments entrance. The hole feeling of our excursion was negatively influenced by the above mentioned factors.

Very cosy flat, nice and responsive host

Spacious and comfortable flat, very well furnished and decorated. Although not seafront, very close to the sea, literally 3 minutes walk. Host very nice and available. Toys and materials for kids available in their bedroom. Ideal when weather does not allow long walk outside.

Nothing really. A mop is not available to quickly clean up any dirt, would be handy with kids and dogs

Large beautifully furnished, comfortable and fully equipped apartment close to the beach and the tram. The main bedroom has a large king size with the other room perfect for families with up to 4 kids - a real bonus. Frank was a great host and accommodated us at short notice.

Nothing really, but definitely best suited to families or couples.
