LAVENDER COTTAGE

We had a lovely time at the cottage. It's located at a great spot near Whitby and Robin Hoods Bay and very cozy. The hosts were most friendly. We wanted to hunt for fossils and Robert gave us some insider tips on how to approach that the best. We even got to borrow a hammer to smash a rock which had an ammonite in it. If we were to come back to this area we would stay in this cottage again.

The cottage is perfectly located for an easy drive to Whitby and Robin Hood Bay (our destinations for the weekend). The cottage itself was clean and well presented, with all the expected amenities plus little extras (sauces in the kitchen, a few biscuits, etc), lovely little outside area which would be lovely in the warmer weather, with a beautiful view out towards Whitby just around the corner (which looks amazing at night). There is an area where you can take your dog if you choose to bring them. The hosts are lovely and couldn't be more accommodating.

Location good, Lovely cottage and courtyard , great hosts. Brilliant for walking or beach hols. Fantastic views and good area to walk your dog or to sit and relax, loved the wild flower meadow.

Being a nervous person I thought the security was a bit lapse as the door locks weren't brilliant as it was a stable door and the catches used are what my animal hutch has on them and could easily break with a bit of force and the lock wasn't fitted that close either. Also I didn't like having two doors coming into the property from another building ,one at the bottom of the stairs and one in the bedroom but then like I said I am a nervous person at night and like to feel really secure. The only other thing I would say was the initial drive area as you pull in could be made to look more appealing as it was a bit off putting as you arrived and made us just want to turn around and leave until you actually went into the courtyard where the cottage was which was really lovely.

Really pleasant helpful hosts. The cottage was clean, warm and well equipped. Location was handy for Whitby and the surrounding villages. The welcome pack contained lots of goodies. Overall, it was a nice place to stay.

I Don't think criticising anything would help anyone, we travel frequently and stay in self catering accommodation often, my one critique would be blunt knives every accommodation we have stayed in overlooks a knife sharpener unfortunately.
