Host & Stay - Park View Apartment

The location. We had stayed here before and it had previously been very good

Filthy floors and carpets. Not been cleaned properly anywhere. Bathroom dirty and mouldy and hairs in shower and sink. Toothpaste on taps and a mouldy fake plant on window sill Stains on sofas and cushions Oven not been cleaned. Utensils and pots and pans have seen better days and I felt the need to wash them before we used them Dirty and Dusty blinds, paintwork. Rusty and marked lamp and side table. I was even treated to an old pair of tights in one of the drawers! Whole place needs a deep clean and decorating and some fixtures and fittings replacing. We called Host and Stay who arranged a cleaner for the following day but she did her best with the obvious things in the time she had but she was fighting a losing battle. Ironing facilities advertised. Iron but no board and yes we checked with Host and Stay who said no board provided. Freezer section was so blocked with ice the fridge door wouldn’t close properly. And the insult is that you have to be out by 10am and can’t check in until 4pm to allow time for cleaning!!! It’s a joke. Seems Covid is a distant memory. Premium prices for a supposed premium property but clearly a cash cow as no one takes any pride in this property

The accommodation was lovely but where a little shocked at having to pay £25 damage before gaining access to already fully paid accommodation

We know Whitby very, very well, & the location is ideal, but not if you have mobility issues as it's up a big hill. Easy to get a taxi though. The place was clean & comfortable, but the carpet looks like it's had a fair amount of stains scrubbed out, not entirely successfully. Beds were comfortable & the bathroom fine.

We had an issue with the key to the front communal door, it snapped & half of it stuck in the lock. Reporting it & trying to find a solution was a pain. We were advised to use the rear entrance, but the metal steps leading out/in were too difficult for my elderly mum, & then the distance to our vehicle was too far. The next day we were told the lock had been dealt with the evening before, but no one communicated this with us or gave us a new key. It took me ringing the help number to even find this out. It was added stress that I didn't want as we were away to scatter the ashes of a loved one. Surely, there should be a local contact, not just a random call centre in another country. One of the bedrooms was a great size, the other somewhat small.

Very close to town, quiet, comfortable. Well-equipped. Well informed throughout the stay from booking to after the holiday.

No parking but.on Street parking is available if.your lucky. Nothing else really

Lovely decor. Good appliances. Peaceful. Roadside parking was free and convenient.

The yard is a bit tricky to access (through one of the bedrooms only) and not a very large space.

You are about 5 minutes from the pub's and shops

Just the check-in time 4pm and you have to be out for 10am
