Top Floor in City Center Funchal

A very good view from the balcony catching the morning sun until the afternoon. The apartment is quite big and has everything that's needed for a long stay. Close to many attractions in the city. Cafés and restaurants and the farmer market all in less than 1 minute walk. The apartment comes with parking in the building which is good when you have a rental car. The host was very nice and helpful.

The beds are a little bit hard. The doorbell doesn't work and there was only one key to the apartment so there was a need to make a schedule for us to be home at the same time or one had to go down stairs to open for the other that didn't have keys.

The location overlooking the farmers market and close to all facilities was excellent. The outdoor terrace was large and attractive. The size of the property was very good with all amenities available.

An extra set of keys are a necessity as they are needed for the entrance and then the apartment but weren't offered. The property has no heating which normally wouldn't matter, but during our stay it was particularly cold. The biggest issues were that it is described as a Top Floor apartment. It is not!!! There is an apartment above which seemed to be inhabited by a herd of Elephants from 4am onwards. There seems to be families living there that have children that enjoy roller skating and playing football in the corridors outside of the apartment. There is no 24 hour reception or reception desk. There is no reception whatsoever. Someone meets you at the door eventually.

meeting up to get the keys. we gave our arrival time at 3:30. we did not see anyone until 5:30. Being 2 women over the age of 70 we were very nervous and afraid that just maybe we would not have a place to stay. thank goodness our taxi driver stayed with us and even help to look for place to stay just in case we needed one. In the end it worked out but in the future if the tenants say they will be there at 3:30 they should be there to hand over the keys. it was very stressful for 2 senior citizens!
