Carvalhal Old Town

The top floor apartment is spacious and comfortable, and has a nice view of the port from the balcony. It was well-equipped and very clean. Good location, only a 10-minute walk to old town (very steep hill up to the apartment). Parking space in the garage and small shared pool are a bonus. The host was very friendly and helpful. Would stay here again.

Great location, just a short walk into the old town, front and restaurants. Nice to have a view of the sea and balcony. There was good outside space, although the weather didn't give us chance to use it a lot. Similarly there is a small pool which we would have used had the weather been better. The apartment is big and very clean and well provisioned. The host Beatriz was superb, being very helpful in answering questions etc.

Funchal is hilly, so the final section of the walk can be slow and the last 20-25 metres or so up to the apartment is very steep. But that's no fault of the apartment, its just the nature of Funchal.

Our family stayed in apartments B and C. Amenities were on point, including a private swimming pool! Funchal city sights were within walking distance, and the property owner Beatriz (and dog, Papaya) were so lovely! Beatriz had answers to all our questions and had local recommendations that saved us money. Will definitely book again! Muito obrigada!

Be extra vigilant on the steep hill/narrow road in front of the apartment when it's wet, as it can be very slippery! Just a word of warning. This is also true for all footpaths around the whole island. This is not anything to do with the apartment itself as there was nothing we didn't like about it! Only a warning.
