Palazzo La Piana Rooms

We had a wonderful stay in Catania, and a huge part of that was thanks to Luca and Giuseppe’s incredible hospitality! The apartment's location is unbeatable—right in the absolute center of Catania. Almost all the major attractions are within easy walking distance. It's also reasonably close to the station; while you can walk it, taking a short taxi ride or the metro is a good option if you have heavy luggage. The apartment itself is fully equipped with everything you could possibly need. Our hosts went completely above and beyond. We wanted to catch the sunset across the strait in Messina, which meant we didn't arrive at the apartment until around 10:00 PM. Despite the late hour, Luca waited up for us, warmly welcomed us, and even helped carry one of our heavy luggage up. He gave us so many useful local tips and recommendations. If there is one thing to look out for, it's the stairs—they are definitely a bit steep and daunting! However, that is just part of the authentic charm of staying in a beautiful historic building. Plus, the payoff is worth it: the balcony offers a fantastic view right over the square.

Location central and good for exploring Catania and to access trains and buses to visit places outside of Catania. Large high ceiling room with balcony to street. The hosts and housekeeping staff were very welcoming, friendly, and extremely helpful throughout our stay. Fresh expresso and Americano coffee was available from machine. Kettle, teabags and microwave available.

A lot of noise from the street until the early hours of every morning.

Spędziliśmy tu jedną krótką noc. Wybraliśmy to miejsce ze względu na lokalizację i możliwość późnego zameldowania. Położenie przy głównej ulicy ma swoje plusy (czuliśmy się bezpiecznie, z balkonu widzieliśmy Etnę, a rano piliśmy kawę na tarasie obserwując przechodniów) oraz minusy (całą noc chodzą ludzie, na szczęście nikt nie śpiewał ;) ). Zastanów się po prostu, czy masz mocny sen - ja spałam bardzo dobrze, a mojego męża budził gwar. Ale nie narzekamy, pokój i cały obiekt ma swój urok. Jest czysto i przestronnie, a wszyscy z obsługi są bardzo życzliwi.

Great location on the piazza - we had a balcony and enjoyed people watching in the morning over our coffees. We could also see Etna from our balcony. There is a coffee machine in the shared kitchenette, and a large shared balcony for guests which has great views. Spacious bathroom and bedroom. Linen was clean and plentiful. Staff were friendly.

Dont recommend if you are a light sleeper as it piazza below can be noisy at night (this didn’t bother us). All the rooms come off a shared corridor and no staff overnight so it could be noisy with other guests (again, not too much of an issue for us).

Very good location in Catania, close to everything including main bus stop, shops, restaurants, bars. Good desk if you need to work. Nice, restored building, comfortable bed and nice-sized bathroom. Room was large and airy, with a small refrigerator. Staff were kind, welcoming and helpful.

It’s on a busy, main street in the center so it was loud until late, it didn’t really disturb me but might disturb some.

Ładny czysty pokój w centrum. Dostępny przestronny hol, kuchnia i taras z widokiem na piękny barokowy kościół.

Niestety nie zdawałam sobie sprawy, że na Piazza Università może grać artysta ze swoim wzmacniaczem, obok restauracja może puścić swoją muzykę ze wzmacniacza, a to wszystko dokładnie pod naszym balkonem do północy. Po całym dniu zwiedzania taki hałas do późnych godzin jest uciążliwy
