Host & Stay - York Terrace Apartments

The location was good for the hospital which is what we needed. Everything we needed in the kitchen for self catering. Communication from the management team was good. Check in was easy.

The heating went off at 10.30. it was chilly as a draught blew through the old windows. and not enough curtain covering to keep it warm. Just old office type vertical blinds. Which were not very good from a privacy point of view. No lamps in the living room so we sat under LED lights. And why not put wall lamps in the bedroom?..we had to climb over the bed to turn off the lights. The bathroom has a tiny cloakroom sink. Husband had to shave and wash in the kitchen. The apartment also needs a refurb. Paint work is dirty in places. The floor also needed a good sweep and clean. There is no parking in apartment 3 which was not made clear when we booked but I believe this has now been rectified after bringing it to the attention of the management team.

Location and helpfulness of staff.

The photos of the property were misleading. The light and airy property shown was not what I got. It was tiny, dark and unfit for purpose. I felt unsafe as the apartment was on the ground floor, backing onto a carpark. The bedroom was even lower still, with painted over, single glaze window frames. The kitchen/seating area had very small, uncomfortable seating. I was expecting the pictured accommodation but was severely disappointed in what I was met with. The building that the apartment was in was not obvious at all. The directions were incorrect. When questioning staff, they were unable to help. The third member of staff did acknowledge the directions were wrong and helped. The building was shabby and smelt of damp. I did not stay & made alternative hotel arrangements. I did not receive a refund. I was told that because the apartment was clean, that a refund was not an option. Overall a very stressful experience.

Fabulous location opposite the bus stops to the city and LEA. Comfortable, spacious, warm with easy to adjust heating. Wonderful shower. Entry by key code was easy and practical.

Sachets of tea, coffee and hot chocolate would have been great. We travelled by train so didn’t have room for drinks. Also, please make it clear which flats have parking.

Great location

No coffee or tea even as a starter pack. Only 2 toilet rolls for 11 day stay.

Flat was clean, tidy and generally very comfortable. There was a large fan in the main bedroom which was amazing as it was a very hot weekend. Could have done with one in the twin room as well though. Beds were comfortable. Excellent location, close to the city and easy to get back to the A10 and ring road. Biggest plus was the parking spot as there isn't much space to park on the surrounding roads so having an allocated space made life much easier.

The road it's on is quite noisy, only an issue in the living room as it's in the front. Not an issue for the bedrooms as they are in rear of the property. Also not the best sofa but only an issue if you are spending a lot of time in the actual flat.

Keys please! - needs deep cleaning (vacuum carpets, cobwebs on ceiling, dusty resistors, dirt marks on walls - torn vinyl flooring was trip hazard - fridge / freezer not convenient for family (too small) - lacking start up essentials (tea, coffee, sugar, etc) - diluted handwashing liquid in bathroom was lowest point - creaky bed in kids room - not really a serviced apartment
