location was great, near the train station and port and lots of restaurants, shops and cafes nearby. well stocked with plates, glasses, cutlery. washing machine and ironing board handy

still needs a bit of finishing to the inside, the shower was a tad small and didn’t always get hot water. there were some shampoo and shower gel sachets but not even for the whole stay and limited condiments. there was a dishwasher but no tablets and no clean sponge for washing so had to search for this.

Super easy to collect the keys and do a self check-in which was so appreciated. Host provided small touches that went a long way-coffee, a water bottle in the fridge, and plenty of toilet paper for the whole stay. The host went above and beyond to find me a place to store my luggage and also answered questions about the area (ferry, buses, recommendations, and taxi numbers). The host was really above and beyond. I also did not realize there were 2 bathrooms which was a nice surprise. The location was great, with a short cut to the train station through the parking lot onto track 1 that made it a 4 minute walk and a 10 minute walk to the Concordia ferry.

A small detail, but there are small dim exit lights above the door and was slightly annoying in the bedroom as it could not be pitch black. There was no laundry detergent (that I could find) for the washer but there was a nice drying rack on the balcony but no chairs outside.

the local was perfect, close to the train, waterfront, walking street, restaurants, and big store for groceries.

Very modern and clean. Good vibes on entering.

Would rather be responsible for putting trash into appropriate containers but not taking out.

We have stayed in Salerno over 10 times in different apartments and by far, this one is in the best location - right near the main train station, just around the corner from the most stocked supermarket in the city, and down the road from best coffee shop that knows how to make a proper flat white (Cafe Castorino, say hello to Max for us when you pop in). Instructions for picking up the key and accessing the place were clear and it was easy to get into the apartment. It is spotlessly clean, with a large living area and kitchenette, including a two burner stovetop, microwave and dishwasher. Furnishings are minimal so the place looks bare but it suited us fine. And for the first time in our Salerno experience the internet provided was better than what we get at home. This meant the two of us could have separate video conference calls for work simultaneously without stutter or lag. There are two bathrooms, which seems overkill, but the heated towel racks were a bit of luxury we appreciated during the cold winter mornings. Appliances seem relatively new and all worked well, although batteries are needed for the air conditioner remote control. Since you are in the modern section of the city the outlook is onto other appartments and an alleyway between blocks of units. Despite this and what is mentioned in the negative below we will come back here.

This is the 5th Starhost property we have stayed at and there are a few things that would make this Casa a Castello. The bed should be replaced. It is not comfortable and any movement makes the springs creak. If you are suffering from jet lag then it will frustrate you even more than necessary. Also, there were no kitchen knives. Try slicing a loaf of bread, cutting up a pumpkin or dicing tomatoes with steak knives. This surprised us because in other Starhost places the kitchen has everything you could need for cooking simple meals. As per all apartment living you will hear your neighbours above you stomping around and although the location is perfect it does mean that you will also hear the trains rumbling throughout the night.
