Very comfortable studio in old historically Jewish section of town. Easy to walk around town, short ride to supermarket just outside of town. Able to pull into small alley to park car off street. Plenty of interesting museums, pleasant street scenes, close to Serra da Estrela and hiking paths.

Maps did not indicate Rua da Fonte da Rosa is one car wide, one way. One needs to enter from the Belmonte Municipal Garden side. Then, the apartment is behind the D. Gracia Mendes house, via the alley. There is a sign in front.

Location

Musty smell. Although the room was not advertised with air conditioner there was not adequate ventilation of another kind. A fan was there but no clean air. Very stuffy.

Possible mould in the bathroom area ... better ventilation needed.

Very well located for those interested in Jewish landmarks. Clean and comfortable king bed. Emotionally moving to know we stayed in a place that once belonged to someone who died for their convictions.

Strong musty smell. Could not air out the property because there were no screens on the window to keep the bugs out. Couldn’t get the AC to work properly but that may have been our fault. This is the third property we’ve stayed at in Portugal, and although they are all renovated, they can’t seem to get rid of that musty smell. Also, would have been nice to have shampoo and body wash.

The apartment looks like on the website and is situated in the center of Belmonte. If you come by car, look for a parking place a bit further the house.

We realized that we hadn’t paid a fortune for this stay , but: 1.It was very confusing to find the proper house, as there are several of them with number 18. We tried to contact the host , he was too abrupt, could not speak good English and didn’t seem to sound eager to help when was asked about parking. 2. The house is stuffy, smells like musty, no AC. 3. If you are a light sleeper, don’t book it, as I had a hell of the night: lack of oxygen, you hear upper neighbors talking, laughing, walking and visiting toilet all night long. Plus the fridge with annoying noise , of course!

The house was hardly to find. No view. No out outside facilities. Very tiny kitchen where you easily can break your legs because in the middle of the small space in front of the worktop there're are very dangerous steps. Very poor equipment.
