Cinnamon Paradise

It’s located in the midst of a cinnamon garden, with also other spices such as black pepper being grown on the side. We also received fresh cinnamon as a souvenir :) The best thing about the stay is the cabana itself; how much attention the owners have paid to the little details. Almost every piece of the cabana was wooden and mind you, most of it made out of pieces that will be usually thrown away as unusable - so very sustainable! After being under the hot sun in the beach area, this was truly a paradise for our overnight stays. Comfortable bed, and amazing concept for bathrooms. We stayed at the ‘nature room’ and absolutely loved our stay here. The breakfasts, although not many options were available, were very filling and were made by the owner’s wife. On the first day we had Sri Lankan pol roti and an egg hopper and a plain hopper (1 each) with lunu miris (chili paste) and seeni sambol (caramelized onions) as condiments and on the second day we had 3 pieces of kiribath (Sri Lankan milk rice) with the same condiments. You always get cut fresh fruits (pineapple, banana and papaya) and tea/coffee based on your choice. It’s a little family run business which is all the more reason to appreciate the place. Would come back!!

There’s nothing that we didn’t like.

Wat een geweldige plek is dit! Champika is super gastvrij en doet er alles aan je verblijf onvergetelijk te maken. Zijn vrouw maakt de lekkerste ontbijtjes! De kamer is super mooi, de buiten-badkamer maakt de ervaring heel bijzonder! We hebben het meest genoten van de gezellige en leerzame gesprekken met Champika tijdens het ontbijt over het leven in Sri Lanka, zijn familie en de kaneelplantage. Toen een volgend verblijf niet door ging konden we onverwacht nog een extra nacht verblijven in Cinnamon Paradise. Wij komen zeker nog eens terug!

Alles! De douche buiten was geweldig, het bed sliep goed en het is een ruime ruimte. Het ontbijt was ook erg uitgebreid en er werken erg vriendelijke mensen.

Het enige wat we kunnen verzinnen is hoe je het kunt vinden. Er staan onderweg wel wat bordjes maar er zou er op het einde nog eentje bij moeten op het laatste kruispunt. Google Maps geeft net niet de goede locatie aan.

Champika was an excellent and generous host during our stay. We arrived to check in later in the night and he kindly escorted us to our villa which absolutely exceeded our expectations. The outdoor shower was like something out of a movie! A gorgeous villa nestled amidst hundreds of cinnamon trees meant that every morning we woke up to the fresh smell of cinnamon while breathing in the cleanest air. Champika would sit with us while we ate our home-cooked breakfast prepared by his wife, and we shared stories back and forth. An invaluable experience and we highly recommend Cinnamon Paradise to anybody looking to spend some time in beautiful Ahangama. It’s very evident that a lot of love and thought has gone into establishing this family run business, down to the hand crafted cinnamon furniture.

Our first time in Sri Lanka and we couldn’t have picked a better place to stay. Cinnamon Paradise is exactly that! Set amidst lush greenery, this is perfect for anyone who values peace and quiet in nature. Janaka and Champika are two brothers that run this amazing place, and were super friendly and hospitable. The breakfast everyday prepared by Champika’s wife was delicious and the fresh fruit from the garden was a nice personal touch. Also, the family of sweet cats that came to visit us everyday definitely added to this amazing experience. Definite looking forward to coming back again.
