Cinnamon Paradise

Wauw, wat een mooie accommodatie! Deze behoort echt tot een van de mooiste, misschien wel dé mooiste, accommodatie waar wij zijn verbleven in Sri Lanka! Het huisje is goed onderhouden en zeer schoon. De buitendouche is echt prachtig. De locatie ligt iets verder van het centrum, maar zorgt er daardoor ook voor dat je geen last hebt van de herrie. Wij hebben echt enorm genoten!

Cinnamon Paradise in Ahangama was one of the most peaceful and memorable places I stayed. Set right in the heart of a working cinnamon farm, the whole property feels quiet, natural, and full of charm. The staff were amazing—warm, genuine, and always happy to share stories or help out. The food was another highlight. Dinner and breakfast were both authentic, home-cooked Sri Lankan meals made with love. Sitting down to eat felt like joining a local family meal, and we even had the chance to chat with the owners, who’ve lived on the land for generations. That added such a personal, meaningful touch to the stay. The bungalows were simple but comfortable, and the outdoor shower was definitely an experience—standing under the sky with the sounds of nature around was something special. From our room, we spotted loads of wildlife: a mouse deer wandered past one morning, we saw a mongoose darting through the trees, and so many colourful birds were always flitting around. If you’re looking for something authentic and quiet, with real connection to the local land and people, Cinnamon Paradise is the perfect spot.

Beautiful jungle setting, gorgeous views. Lovely breakfast provided and staff so helpful and welcoming. Room was very unique and felt authentic.

Slightly further away from Ahangama, you can walk but sometimes in the heat is a slight challenge. You can easily get tuktuks. Outdoor bathroom a novelty but stairs were challenging especially at 3am!

This was by far one of the best experiences we’ve had staying somewhere. The owner of the cinnamon farm is the sweetest man and the cabin itself was a total delight! We had Sri Lankan breakfast every morning and learnt about how cinnamon farming works. Gorgeous outdoor shower/bathroom and comfortable light filled room. The owner helped us organise a motorbike for our stay as well 10/10!

Staying at this charming cinnamon farm was a truly unique experience. The villa is stunning, and the hosts are warm and welcoming. While reaching the property can be a bit tricky—make sure to check your maps carefully!—the effort is well worth it. Some additional signage on the main roads would be helpful, but once we arrived, we felt completely at peace. We loved the outdoor shower, the exceptionally comfortable bed, and the simple yet delicious breakfast—one of the best we’ve had in Sri Lanka. The host was incredibly kind and helpful, making our stay even more memorable. If you’re looking for a serene escape from the hustle and bustle, this is the perfect place!
