Apartamento San Mateo

The staff was very nice and the accommodation very comfortable.

We were met by Natalia when we arrived, very nice, very helpful. When we left, Natalia secured a taxi because there were some work in front of the building, making it impossible for taxi drivers to collect us. She even stayed with us until the taxi arrived. The flat was spotless clean and well located. We went to different beaches (San Juan / Albuferata / Benidorm), but we preferred the local one called El Postiguet. We have truly appreciated the air con in the living room as well as the kitchen and bathroom. I travelled with a friend, so we used two bedrooms (three if you consider that she couldn't sleep in the morning with the noise from the workers BUT the work was nearly finished when we left, so you won't have this issue. Bedrooms are basic but ok and very convenient if you travel with friends or with your family) If you'd like to take the tram, when you leave the building, turn right, right again at the end of the street, straight on (you should see Mercadona on your right), and walk until you reach Vithas Hospital. The tram is located just behind the hospital, very easy and convenient. Mercadona is one of my favourite supermarkets, so a few minutes walk from the flat, and you can even reheat paella on site and eat there at the back. If you'd like to taste something local, we had a tostada every morning (toasted baguette with fresh tomato sauce + ham + cheese) with cafe con leche (coffee with milk), delicious. Paella con bogavante is to be tasted also, it was a first for us and we loved it. I highly recommend Sant Mateo apartments and will make sure to choose that option when I get back to Alicante: you will not find a better quality price on the site (well, it was the very best option when I selected it in September 2022).

Although I knew there were stairs to reach the flat, it was a little difficult, especially if you have heavy luggage with you, but this little issue is of no consequence when compared to the pros.
