The property was perfect for 2 people. It was neat and tidy. Love the facilities like the shower and loved the electric blanket! The hosts were also very friendly and helpful. Loved that it was so close to the beach.

It’s part of a heritage site/area so the surrounding area is still very rural and the down side is that there were no shopping facilities closeby so we had to drive 20minutes if we needed things froma shop.

The most disappointing part of this accommodation is that we felt the photos weren’t totally representative. The picture of the room with the lovely sea view isn’t actually part of the living unit which is positioned at the back of a house. The room with the view is a separate braai area with a separate entrance. Unfortunately on the day we arrived, it was also very windy and the chimney cowl was rattling so loudly we couldnt use this braai facility anyway. When we arrived we got out of the car and ended up at the house next door where we were approached by 2 individuals, very drunk, albeit friendly, but which was also quite off putting and so we felt a bit unsafe in the environment. The thatch is also a bit old and musty smelling so my partner who is asthmatic didn’t feel he could stay. With regards to value for money we ended up staying in a facility which was R200 more, included breakfast and was a more favourable accommodation. When we texted the property host via WhatsApp, she said our complaints were ‘outrageous’, implied that were speaking untruths about the drunken individuals and was unwilling to consider any compensation. We felt she could have been a bit more gracious. These are however our personal opinions - I think if we had known exactly what to expect it would have been different. The wind and the neighbours are unforseeable and I’m sure many will be happy in the space if they are aware that the view room is elsewhere! . Arniston is a lovely quaint seaside village and still recommended as a holiday venue.
