Malminkatu Kamppi - Absolute Center Helsinki Compact Apartment

This is a lovely apartment centrally located in Helsinki. The host provides many helpful items to make you feel right at home and responds quickly to messages.

It was a sham, we got really cheated. The site described an apartment, but it was a cramped, stuffed studio. No place for luggage. The site described a bathroom, which was in reality a toilet closet (75 x 120 cn) with a small fountain and a shower head added. We couldn’t stay in such a place and left after one night instead of the 4 nights we paid for. From all the apartments we sofar booked, this was the most expensive one!!!

Proximity to the city

Location is great - relatively quiet residential area with cafés, shops (including very nice second-hand clothes) and supermarket nearby, within walking distance of both the shore and the centre of the city. Comfortable bed, good fridge and well-equipped kitchen (although I didn't cook). There was a fan for hot days (I didn't test it) and windows could be opened. Apartment on 5th floor, so good light and there's a lift.

Communication around getting into the apartment was a little challenging - both finding a channel that we could communicate on and then obtaining the code for access, which came very late. If I had been arriving alone late at night, I would have found this intimidating. (Once I had the code, everything worked fine). Bathroom is VERY small (mentioned in the description of the accommodation) but it functions. I would suggest putting all toilet rolls (also the extra ones on the shelf) and towel outside the door before having a shower (shower itself works fine). Manoevering in bathroom could be challenging for someone with mobility issues.

Great place to stay for a week end! Location is perfect, the bed is really comfortable, cosy room with everything you need and even more! As they say in the description, the bathroom is funnily small but perfectly usable! I will come back given the occasion!

- The host is very responsive and direct in the communication; - The location of the studio; - The studio has convenient amenities for a short stay;

- The biggest con and a health hazard is the fact that the bedlinen and towels had been (as confirmed by the host when contacted) sprayed with air freshener that clearly indicated on the label that it should be not sprayed on textiles or surfaces.This resulted in us having a very serious reaction as soon as we got into the bed: red itchy skin, difficulties breathing and headache. Something to be particularly mindful of if you have asthma or any kind of allergies or sensitives! Fortunately there was a spare bedlinen in the flat that the host indicated we could use, so instead of relaxing after a long day, we had to be undressing and dressing the bed and airing the room in the middle of the night; - The instructions and labels scattered all around the studio, although intended to make things easier for the guests, end up making you feel somehow unwelcome and tensed, almost micromanaged; - The studio is tiny but that in itself is not an issue for a short stay, however it has a lot of (rather unnecessary) things which make it cramped and not so clean: there is dust gathered everywhere (and it doesn’t seem to be cleaned) and there is a “stale” smell; - Lastly, maybe a small detail, but we found a single toothbrush for two guests with an opened and used package, and a collection of half empty shampoo and shower gel sample bottles- it gives a hostel feeling where people can help themselves with the things left behind by other guests and, while I am all up for fighting waste, this studio is not advertised nor priced as a hostel;

Nice location and fully stacked kitchen (coffee, tea, cereal, pasta...) and Alexa, mobile wifi and TV were available.

The bathroom is really small but that was clearly described beforehand. It was a little bit dirty also.
