A castle spirit apartment in Château du Châtelard

Beautiful location with view over the lake and Montreux. Check in was very easy. Instructions are providing details step by step on how to reach destination and how to get in.

It was a truly unique & fulfilling experience to stay in an ancient chateau with beautiful grounds & an exceptional view of the mountains & lake. The staff was also very helpful and welcoming.

Having to leave. Be aware that the chateau is a 15 minute walk to the nearest restaurants or food stores.

We really appreciated the spacious, very clean space. The apartment had everything we needed in the kitchen, laundry facilities, etc.. The shower and tub was a nice size and pressure. We appreciated the privacy of the private entrance and felt very secure in the location and apartment vicinity.

Not that we didn't like anything, we could suggest better pillows for sleeping instead of just mostly decorative. It is a castle, however, at times we did not like the location of our place in proximity to the above guests. You could heavy footed walkers every move.

did not expect to have all sorts of bugs/spiders in the rooms (maybe its obvious for some people, considering thats its a medieval castle, for me it was a shock). I think its important to know this in case you have a fobia of some sort. Had also some issues with the staff at checkout telling us at 15minutes past time “you need to go” no hello, no “do you need help finding a taxi on this rain” no nothing…staff could use some customer service/communication training especially considering the property being listed as premium.

We do not have washing machines in our room

the lack of maintenance and comfort. the attitude of the property manager when we reported that we had ants in the bathroom telling us basically to swallow it as ants are everywhere and it is the season of ants. we were offered to be transferred in another appartement of the castle for 1 night but had to return to the « ant » appartement after that or cancel our booking. We made the property manager have the bathroom kit redone because it was full of moisture and ants were coming in from there. moisture means also lack of cleanliness and maintenance. the radiator of the appartement was broken, could not be stopped and it was overheating the room. we raised the problem again but no reaction from the management. we had to leave the appartment in the end in the middle of the night because it was not possible to sleep in it due to the heating.
