Sayulita Beach House Hotel

Great spot. I initially had my apprehensions because the reviews were mixed. Here's my honest perspective on the property. Location is unmatched. It is on the beach and right downtown. The apartment we stayed in is a great size. Two queen beds on opposite ends of the apartment. There is no A/C, but the weather we had was perfect in early December. We didn't need it. Some things to keep in mind. It is rustic and outdated. Now, some people wouldn't like that, but my friend and I didn't mind. Things like taps and appliances were a bit janky but honestly they got the job done. One thing we noticed were red spots all along the floor. We thought it was sauce or something that wasn't mopped up. Turned out it was iron from the trusses. So no need to worry about that. It's completely open air, which is going to make it difficult to sleep as you can hear everything. Bring ear plugs. If you want cleaning, message the manager and she'll organize the housekeeping. They won't just come and do regular cleaning. They'll bring all the supplies you need, just ask.

Couldn't beat the location. Right on the beach with surfboard rentals at your doorstep. Just a couple blocks from the plaza.

One of our beds had bed bugs. Overall the property is clearly past its prime and hasn't been upgraded in some time.

The location was the best. If you like simple and rustic, it's perfect. The room was spacious and the gate at the front door made you feel your belongings were safe. The food was delicious and the wait staff, Danny, was inviting and welcoming.

First, I booked the reservation weeks in advance but needed to add a night. The property provided no communication. I tried emailing, calling, and texting, but nothing. I went through Bookings.com for help, and after multiple emails and calls, Booking.com had a Spanish-speaking customer service rep call, and when they announced they were from Booking.com, they hung up. So, I made reservations somewhere else, thinking it was a scam. When arriving, I accidentally put this location in my GPS instead of the new one (which I booked for all 4 nights). When I arrived, I texted to see where to park (parking is very difficult to find). After parking and walking to the location I thought was the new place, I found someone who checked me in and instructed me to park in the lot. When I asked for another night, she said she would text me in a few minutes, but nothing happened. I was told to book through Bookings.com; I tried, but nothing was available. On the last day, I texted and asked if they had a cancellation, but there was nothing. At checkout, I received a text saying to remove my stuff or be charged 300/hr, and the cleaning lady was very mad at me. I removed my stuff by 12:07. Very Rude, non-communicative, and not welcoming at all. Bookings.com kept saying the reservation is non-refundable and the lack of communication and did not constitute a refund.

Amazing location, worn property but cute and clean and quiet.

Property could use some attention as well as better indication of where/how to check in.

The space was lovely with a really big balcony in the beach front place. You could watch the surfers at the main break all day. The restaurant below was very nice and you are in the town so you can get everything you need. There are a few other smaller beaches in walking distance. We saw whales in the distance as we had our morning coffee, stunning!

Nothing in the Sayulita Beach House, but the 24 hour a day non stop music really took away from the stay, sometimes 3 competing bars. We stayed in December and early January so the firecrackers were going off all during the night for the various celebrations. If you want to surf and party it's perfect.
