Sayulita Beach House Hotel

The location is excellent! Exactly what we wanted.

We loved everything except the kitchen wasn't really functional. The fridge didn't work, and no one came to fix it. We defrosted and cleaned it ourselves. This made it seem overpriced for what was advertised.

The bed was good

Everything else. Toilet didn't flush without me filling the tank with water every time. The kitchen sink was gross with mold around the taps, the front and side doors were very flimsy. I was not able to feel secure ever. Where screens should have been there weren't any or they were ripped. Gaps in the bamboo windows large enough for a cat to walk through. No propane for the stove, coffee maker was broken, no drinking water was provided, No forks, only 2 spoons, a knife, and a plastic serving spoon.

It was probably very nice 30 years ago.

Honestly I am not by any means a princess and have stayed in low budget places all over the world with no insurmountable issues, but this place is pretty gnarly. I have never in my life actually stayed one night and left but in this case I did. Not as pictured. It is filthy, garbage bags for curtains, no toilet paper, toilets didn’t flush. Shower was DISGUSTING. someone else’s food was still in the fridge. It is the clear the housekeepers change the sheets and absolutely nothing else. When we “checked in” a housekeeper made me sign a waiver saying I wouldn’t get blood or excrement all over the place. Pretty comical actually. The kitchen was gross and ill equipped, I wouldn’t dream of cooking a meal or trying to enjoy a coffee there. It’s the type of place you use to sleep (if you’re able to) and store your stuff and hope it isn’t stolen. You wouldn’t want to spend a second there otherwise. There are no common spaces except for a courtyard full of parking lot dust and garbage. Something else to note is that because of its location it is EXTREMELY LOUD at all hours of the night. Drunk people screaming and coming in and out. It doesn’t feel secure, we went out briefly around 11pm and returned to a locked gate. A local saw us standing there confused and he jimmyed the gate to let us in. We were grateful to be let in but it didn’t inspire confidence in any form of security. There was no communication whatsoever with any staff except some housekeepers who speak Spanish only. We decided to “check out” after less than 24 hours. There was zero customer service, no one to communicate our concerns to, no reimbursement for 6 nights we booked but did not stay. I considered using it as a toilet while downtown for the rest of the week as they wouldn’t give me my money back but it was so gross and ugly and disfunctional I didn’t even want to set foot in there again.

The location was the bomb, right on the beach.

The location is awesome! The style of the apartment was great. It was clean and very comfortable.

It was difficult to contact the management to get the keys. The toilet leaked everyday flooding the bathroom and the kitchen. The windows were covered by plastic garbage bags rather than a nice window covering. They can do better. With a bit of tender care this will be a great property.
