Algarve Beach Apartments

The staff were very helpful and great with communication. The pool area was peaceful and relaxing. The apartment was well equipped.

I found the apartment a complex a little unsafe, I travelled alone and when returning in the evenings the lights did not always work, meaning I walked through the corridors and stairwell in the dark. The lock was also stiff on the front door, so being alone in the dark struggling to get in was a concern. Someone also knocked on my door late at night, with no staff on site I felt a little anxious. Apartments could benefit from better lighting and security checks.

Just out town so quiet and only a 30 minute walk to the town centre

Not much sun on the balcony, but this would be an advantage in mid summer.

Good pre-arrival communications and meet-and-greet. Hosts seemed keen to help. Nice spacious apartment, mostly clean on arrival, and comfortable bed. Good kitchen facilities. Very good location - easy stroll to a lovely beach and super coastal walks (left and right). Good location for shops/restaurants and the Strip, and a little further walk to the lovely Old Town. Good TV (much better than many other apartments/hotels) but a little complicated to use. Extension/plug board was available which is very unusual for apartments - nice touch. Nice walkway from main gate to the apartment complex.

No hot water on arrival, but this was rectified. Unfortunately there was also no hot water on the day of my departure which was very frustrating. There was a lot of mugs in the cupboard, but most were really filthy. I bought my own. It was quite chilly in Albufeira at this time, so heating in the apartment was important. Unfortunately the heating unit (part of the air-con) didn't work, so the apartment was cold. This was extremely disappointing as I had checked in advance that the apartment had heating. The coldness of the apartment and the bathroom had a significant impact on my stay. Bedside lamps didn't work which was a shame as I enjoy reading. Very old, worn rug in the living area. Bathroom was cold, and had a very strange shower set-up - this was not fully enclosed, which meant that if you were not very careful, water could spill over the bathroom floor. Showering in short bursts, crouched in the far corner of the shower area seemed the only way. The host did say I could contact them if there were problems, but I was only staying for 5 nights, and I did not really want to be sorting things out with the apartment for much of my stay.Just too many problems with this apartment. It was a shame that the apartment could not have been checked over BEFORE my (or any other guests') arrival. The general ambience of the building - particularly the entrance areas, was dull. Cold and exposed to winds. During a hot summer though, this 'openness' could be an advantage I guess.

The apartment was very clean and close to the beach.

I understand there needs to be many rules, but it also felt a bit unwelcome. Perhaps these rules are set based on experiences with some previous guests. It would also be great if the pool can be heated in low seasons.
