Backup Powered Atlantic Sea-View Penthouse

Apartment was large and clean. Centrally located for our needs. See comments re: key retrieval below. Nice that laundry supplies were available. Would stay again. Some minor ajustments would be good but nothing to prohibit a booking.

Confusing messages Re: access; some messages said we would be met at site, others for self entry; had to stop at completely different location for keys and fobs; pics provided for access were not accurate (showed back entrance and gate fob didn’t work). Property indicated shuttle availability but had to book on our own; luggage storage only available for limited period and again at different location; some balcony doors did not work

The apartment was spacious and the staff were efficient and helpful.

The apartment could do with some maintenance. Damp in some walls, 2nd room bedside lamps and electrical socket not working.

The rooms were very comfortable and everything we needed was there. Nice location close to the waterfront and shops in the surrounding areas. Beds were very comfy.

The name on bookings.com does not match what is on the building. We ended up at Bakoven at Atlantic Sea View apartments. The name on booking.com is Atlantic Sea View as well, but the building at 301 Beach Road is called Kingsmead, so that caused a lot of confusion and extra money spent on Ubers trying to find it. It should read correctly on Booking.com. Also, when we booked on Booking.com they quoted us R3800 then when we had to pay the amount over it suddenly jumped to R4500. This should not happen. There is also quite a bit of mold in the bathrooms, The entrance and inside balcony leaks when it rains so the apartment needs a bit of maintenance.

The property is beautiful. Wonderful views of the ocean and mountains. The kitchen is well appointed. The staff is very friendly and helpful.

1. No air condition - got extremely hot in the bedrooms - there is one machine in living room but it’s very loud so useless for bedrooms 2. Everything is a bit run down, needs updating 3. Technician needed to come for washing machine while we were there - these things should be scheduled when guests are not there 4. Not accommodating regarding late check out (despite no guests arriving on the day we left) 5. Cleaning only once during more than one week stay

The apartment was well located, comfortable and had an partial views of both the ocean and the mountain. The facilities in the apartment were more then adequate.

I was disappointed that the washing machine did not work and that there was no dryer. Also the shower heads in the both showers need to be replaced as they leaked badly and were not as effective as it should be. We were also not able to gain access to the apartment via the main pedestrian gate and had to use the parking garage. Also the elevator in the parking garage did not work on various occassions during power outages and we had to wait for a resident to gain access to the other elevator.
