"Fantastic stay"

10.0

The apartment was so spacious with beautiful views. It had everything we needed. It was within easy walking distance of the town- only 10 minutes walk to the pub and restaurants. We hired bikes from Dolgellau Cycles and cycled along the Mawddach Trail, a disused railway line which runs from the town alongside the river to Barmouth.

The shower in the bathroom is one that is over the bath. It was very difficult to get any temperature control- it either ran hot or cold. But it wasn’t much of a problem because just had a bath instead.

"Lovely, spacious apartment - would recommend."

10.0

After spending 6 nights in "cosy/quirky" cottages where we didn't have a lot of space - we were delighted as soon as we walked into the Mach Apartment. The Living area was huge - with high ceilings and massive windows overlooking a lovely garden area - with hills visible in the distance. The bathroom was also huge and the bedroom pretty spacious too. As the weather was forecast to be "wet" - we knew we'd be very comfortable if we were unable to get out as much as we'd hoped. Breakfast was already provided for the two days we were there (so we could suit ourselves re timings) - OJ, Milk, Cereal selection, Butter, Jams, Bread, Yoghurts, Croissants, Waffles. A small fridge to keep things cool, microwave, kettle & toaster. The table was also set up with crockery & cutlery. The apartment - and the building itself - were full of quirky artwork/quirky touches which made it quite interesting to look around. No need to take the car to get into Dolgellau village - as you could walk there in about 5-10 minutes. Although worth highlighting that anyone with mobility/fitness issues might prefer to take a car, as it's a downhill walk there/uphill walk back. We didn't use the car - but for those that do, there's a car park right next to the Stag Inn where you can get free parking after 6pm!!! Pubs galore in the village for eating/drinking in the evenings. We opted for The Ship on both nights as we liked their restaurant area (nice, big & open). We arrived late afternoon on our first night having had a busy day. The next day (our only full day in Dolgellau) the weather was better than expected, so we left the car and decided to walk The Mawddach Trail from Dolgellau to Barnmouth. Very picturesque and very flat (about 9.5 miles). We hopped on a bus to get back to Barnmouth (a bargain at £2.20 per person for the 20-25minute trip).

Not a major issue for us, but a couple of points about the bathroom:- 1, From the living area, you did have to walk through the bathroom to get to the Bedroom (and vice versa). It felt a little odd, but didn't trouble us too much. 2. Whilst in the bathroom, the large, clear, glass window meant I could see into a room in a nearby house. I assumed that meant they could also see me in the bathroom from that room? There were curtains that could be closed for privacy - but this just made the room very dark. And...it just means the user/customer has to spend time opening & closing curtains before using the room (very minor I know - but who wants to be bothered with that). So - a wee suggestion...why not put some "glass frosting/film" on the bottom half of the window? This would be an inexpensive way to deal with the issue whilst still allowing as much light in as possible? Or - put some kind of net curtain over the bottom half of the window (Cafe Curtain?). Again, this would protect the user from prying eyes whilst allowing light in. Also, it would prevent users from pulling & hauling on the lovely curtains in there (as it could sometimes take a couple of attempts to close the curtain due to the rail being up high and the curtains catching on the bit where the rail was extended).
