Southwell

Extremely clean, well equipped, comfortable and very easy to walk wherever we needed to go. We had two cars and parking close by on the road was no problem. The leisure centre is only a short walk away and offers free long term parking if required. Host friendly and Southwell lovely.

Comfort and fully equipped with everything needed, especially in the kitchen which we made full use of, shoppping for raw materials in town then eating on site. Southwell and the MInster are great places to visit.

Initially warm and welcoming, the property was unlocked and I let myself in. I contacted the owner by text and she came and we had a very pleasant chat. She gave me newly laid chicken eggs and had brought in soya milk and gluten free products for me which I appreciated

I began to get bitten in the property. I couldn’t work out what it was on the 1st day. I had used a rolled up blanket to keep warm on the sofa but there were bits coming off it and it felt dirty so I discarded it. By the 2nd night I was woken scratching and by 6am I couldn’t tolerate it and got up. I had several bites to my ankles and foot and wrist. As I walked through the hallway, a flea jumped on my leg. I then noticed dog hairs on the carpet. I packed my things and knocked next door where the owner lived. She did not reply, so I locked the property and left to sit in a carpark and text the owner about what had happened. Initially we spoke on the phone and agreed I would not write a review, out of respect for her business, to give her time to sort the problem and she would refund me the full amount. She asked if I would wait until 4 weeks as things were tight. I stupidly agreed and 4 weeks passed and no refund. Several texts and no reply from the owner until I said I would contact booking. Com, then a long text reply from the owner who now decided she would not be refunding me, and said I must have picked them up from outside. More than disappointed. I have had to call Booking .com and supply photos taken at the time of my bites and the dirty carpet. I feel stupid I trusted this lady, and I would not recommend.

A great little cottage in a good location in Southwell. The host Janice was lovely and couldn't have been more helpful, even supplied some food and drink essentials for the stay. Would certainly recommend.
